Every day we get about 10-15 emails asking about the status of DeAndre Liggins and Kevin Galloway. Now while I always like reading emails from folks from the site (matt.jones@kentuckysportsradio.com), I often wonder if these people think that I have secret Liggins and Galloway info that I wont put on the blog but will give away by email. Nevertheless, I did have a conversation late last night that provides some kind of update, at least to me, about the situation.
While it isnt official until the fat lady (aka the UK Athletics Department) sings, I am told by a source I trust that UK has received word that both young men will be eligible. The person who gave me this info has given me lots of good information in the past and I believe what he says to be the case. According to the source, the news came about 10 days or so ago and that no announcement will be made until the whole team is back on campus, which should actually be fairly soon.
Now what do we do with this information? I would not go telling the world that they are certainly eligible. But I would say that it looks very good, I would assume they will be playing until I hear an official word from UK otherwise. I feel good about the situation and will now assume in all future talks about next season’s UK team that these two guys will be on the court.

The latest news on Lucas is that he has quit the Florida basketball team and is going through extensive training to ride Big Purple in next years Kentucky Derby

I knew this 11 days ago (thats right 1 day before it the team knew) and I did not want to release it until the I got word the team would release it. This is unethical!

It’s happening. I’m coming to you live from my duck blind outside the Lucas household, dressed in full camo. Lucas is considering transferring from the University of Florida. I can’t be sure, but I speculate that the cereal he ate for breakfast this morning was in fact regular Total, which does of course come in a blue box. Is he trying to send me a message? I can’t be sure, but I think the odds are good. While it’s rampant speculation at this point, all signs point to him being either a Cat by nightfall.

The Flurry to FL, Lucas to KY trade has been in the works ever since Lucas picked up the wrong hat but decided to not lose face over it by changing. The Flurry is very happy as he could not compete with 2 pat for chicks…

Thank you Matt. Hope the source is good! Should be a good season in terms of wins and losses. I was checking out the schedule recently, and our home schedule is not difficult at all. If we lose 4 games at Rupp this year, I will be very surprised! I hope we beat IU by 40! Love to kick em when their down!

This is real I have a good source on this one. Lucas is not happy because all the other players on UF’s basketball team are making fun of him for being short by calling him “booster seat” and he is taking it real hard. Because of this the NCAA is going to grant him a hardship waiver so that he won’t have to sit out this year.

Funny! I essentially said the same thing in a post here and on other sites more than 10 days ago. Maybe Matt and I have the same sources, (doubt it). Here is the message; Gillispie doesn’t like discussing personal academics (he feels strongly about that) so we will have to wait to classes start to finally assume all is well. Think about it, both are on campus with player access. Listen to CC sometimes, if Matt would respond to my emails this could have been posted sooner than later.
