UK’s Webb gets All-Star start?

Former Kentucky pitcher and former Cy Young winner Brandon Webb will reportedly get the start for the National League in next Tuesday’s All-Star Game against Cleveland’s Cliff Lee.  Webb, who did not pitch in last year’s game that happened to be managed by a Filthy Card (Tony LaRussa), is 12-4 with a 3.43 ERA for the first-place Diamondbacks.  It is Webb’s third straight All-Star appearance.

    well done

It’s nice to see a UK alum getting the starting nod, but I would have loved to see Volquez get the start (for purely selfish reasons). A solid argument could be made for either pitcher, so congratulations to BWebb!!

I don’t think it’s going to happen. I talked to Brandon’s dad today, and Brandon was told on Saturday, that he is being bumped up a day, and will pitch on Tuesday against the Nationals, and then pitch again on Sunday against the Phillies.

Please don’t confuse my noble St. Louis Cardinals with that filth in Louisville…..

I’m glad to see a Kentucky Alum get to start, but I agree with 2. I’M not exactly a Reds fan (Braves), but he sure is good and I thought hes had great stuff all season long. Both can certainly make a case for themselves. But Webb is sick too so…hard pick. I hope the national league can finally win one though.

I think Volquez definate deserved it more than anybody else, but it’s always nice to see a Kentucky product do well. Congrats to him.

Volquez over Webb and it shouldn’t even be a question. Webb has most of his wins against inferior competition.

I agree with #4, St. Louis is my favorite team and I hate Louisville.

Don’t hate them just because St. Louis are Cardinals too.

I also agree with (post 4) Why you calling the ST LOUIS CARDINALS, filthy ??? Louisville Cards—VERY FILTHY. St Louis Cardinals—classy.

Okay, Thomas. Now you’ve done it. You cut down the ST. LOUIS CARDINALS. What are you, a frickin’ Cubs fan?!? Come on, show some class!

Tony La Russa is not a filthy Card. Last I checked, he was one of TWO managers to lead an AL and NL team to a World Series championship.

I’m in agreement with my fellow St. Louis Cardinals fans on this. I know there are more of us out here.

You’ve cut down the entire Western Kentucky Big Blue Faithful…as they pick up FSN Midwest…not FSN SOUTH or FSN OHIO.

    Shame on you.
