Dominique Ferguson commits to Kentucky

by @ 9:01 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

According to Evan Daniels at Scout.com, Dominique Ferguson, a 6′9″ forward from Indianapolis, has commited to the Cats.  Ferguson, ranked as the 8th best player in the class of 2010, had drawn the interest of Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Purdue and Wake Forest.  Ferguson, according to Daniels, had taken an unofficial visit to Kentucky and was drawn to their style of play and the “family atmosphere”.  He comes to the Kentucky from the storied Lawrence North program that produced Greg Oden and Mike Conley, as well as the late John Stewart, a Kentucky signee.

Ferguson, who has a 7′5″ wingspan and has a strong inside-outside game, joins Dakota Euton and K.C. Ross-Miller in Kentucky’s 2010 class.

Jon Hood just named UK his leader

  20. jaxcat1 Says:

We have one of the best coaching staffs in the country. As far as recruiters there is none better.
As far as x & o’s remember just how well the staff adapted to the few players they had available last
year. It will be truly amazing what this team can do with a few bodies to compete with. This season
will be fun to watch. I believe it is time to purchase that big screen I have been waiting for- we’re
    my rebate check?

  31. CAnTuckeeBoi Says:

Wow this is crazy news…..Just when I thought things could not get any worse…….we go and do something like this ……..

    AND TOTALLY REDEEM OURSELVES!!!!!!!!!

  32. maxima99 Says:

This could open a lot of doors for UK to Indiana players. Stephan Van Treese and Jeff Robinson???

  33. CO Wildcat Says:

    what class are they max?

  34. CO Wildcat Says:

I had a lay over last week in Vegas from Fresno and there was an entire AAU team on my flight. Anyone know where I can go to check these kids out?

  35. Blue_Lawlz Says:

Whenever you think the bad news won’t stop - just remember that out of the blue, wonderful tear inducing news can happen. 2010 is a wonderful recruiting class. I was very high on Josh Harrellson when he was first reported, I’m really excited he chose us. Things are looking bright for the Big Blue!

  36. Rock_Cat78 Says:

Van Treese already eliminated UK, don’t know about Robinson…but Evan Anderson is still very possible I would think.

  37. maxima99 Says:

    Treese is 2009 - 4 star
    Robinson 2009 - 3 star

All three play on the same team or at least I think

  38. coachclyde Says:

I have determined that Coach’s philosophy in recruiting is nail down kids 3-4 years before they’re on everyone’s radar (Vinny Zollo, K.C. Ross-Miller, Euton) and then when everyone else is recruiting for next year’s class you’ll be finished and recruiting for the class 3 years away. By the way, I live in Ohio and have talked to some people about Zollo - the kid will be a stud.

  39. maxima99 Says:

36 - I did not know that. Thanks

  40. CO Wildcat Says:

Who the fck is Zollo? Where’d that name come from? Dominque Ferguson is the 2010 player that just committed

  41. CAnTuckeeBoi Says:

Just a refreshrment to know the quality of individuals kentucky athletics has produced compared to other school. This is one of the classiest articles I have ever read. I hope one of them gets the other one cut so that there will be a better opportunity for both of them.

    http://blog.nj.com/ledgergiants/2008/04/lorenzen_genuinely_scared_by_w .html

  42. Wolvezzz Says:

    WOW

  43. maxima99 Says:

One person I think will surprise us is GJ Vilarino. BCG must have seen something special in this kid because he was the first to commit (at least I think)once BCG aboard.

He did make TX all team. I picture a smart, quick and intense player when I thnk of him. Plus, his name will sound cool being announced in Rupp…..

    “ASSIST FROM GJ VILARINO”

  44. Wolvezzz Says:

Can’t wait to get the right colors on that wildcat uniform

  45. djcats4ever Says:

we need to lock up euton’s teammate, chad jackson (believe that is his name). he is going to be a top 20 talent.

  46. C-A-T-S Says:

Vinny Zollo is a 2011 stud. 6′8 big, strong kid you can bang inside, deadly from outside, and can handle the ball very well.

  47. Red Rooster Says:

Sweet Jesus take me now. I love Billy G.

  48. kycub25 Says:

the 2010 class looks really good on paper…BCG getting it done

  49. SagaciousMind Says:

Wow thats a big get from a name I dont think I had heard much about, besides seeing him on the list of interest on Scout. The 2010 class is very important cuz a lot of schollies are gonna free up then. He seems like the kinda player Billy loves so…man the future looks bright. Cant wait until we are back on top! Go Cats!

  50. coachclyde Says:

As noted already Zollo is a kid in the 2011 class. I believe that Ohio St. will recruit him hard if we don’t get him nailed down soon. Matta is a killer recruiter who is packing the 2009 and 2010 classes with some amazing talent. On a side note, I would like to say how I “loved” (sarcasm) the comments from so many people over the recent days as recruits did not commit to UK. Reminds me of last year of Sanchez and Hamga not committing and so many people saw that as a sign that PPat was going to UF. Sometimes, people need to chill.

  51. oldcat Says:

BCG the “MAN” is a workaholic when it comes to recruiting,i would bet no one works as long or as hard…it kinda sheds light on how hard he works his players and the rewards that will follow.

  52. 4bgblue2 Says:

He was at Midnight madness along with these guys:
    Sampson
    J Hood
    Garret Stutz
    Verdell Jones
    Chris Singleton
    Miller
    Liggins
    Dakotah Euton
    Chad Jackson
    John Wall
    Vinny Zollo

  53. mjdbball13 Says:

52..we might end up getting half of those guys!!!!!

  54. jpay Says:

May face hurts from grinning so much….. Good hurt. :)

  55. funkadelic Says:

    Weeeeeeeeeeeer’eeeeee Baaaaaaaaaackkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

  56. cch010 Says:

i think BCG is gonna end up getting jon hood and chad jackson for sure

  57. CAnTuckeeBoi Says:

COME ONNNNNNN!!!!!!!! WHERE IS ALL OF THE RECRUITING NEWS :) 8.)

  58. CAnTuckeeBoi Says:

8.) WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 8)

  59. funkadelic Says:

    Let’s get McCoy and we’re set for 2008;

  60. cch010 Says:

does anyone know if McCoy is gonna commit soon

  61. C-A-T-S Says:

DO YOU ALL REALIZE IF WE HAD TUBBY THIS WOULD BE OUR 08 CLASS

    SUTTON
    STUTZ
    D. GREEN
    VERDELL JONES

    INSTEAD WE HAVE

    MILLER
    LIGGINS
    GALLOWAY
    HARRELSON

    GILLISPIE IS THE MAN

  62. dwayne Says:

depends on your definition of soon…the signing period ends in the middle of may so hopefully he chooses us!

  63. E-townCatfan1 Says:

Great News!! Keep em coming BCG!! what is the radio station where i can listen to this stuff?

  64. cch010 Says:

that would be big we havent had a true point gaurd for a long time

  65. cch010 Says:

does anyone know how many schollys we have for 2009

  66. maxim99 Says:

61 - just let it go.

  67. CAnTuckeeBoi Says:

61.) Throw Ralph Sampson and Devron Bostick in Tubby’s too. Dont turn this great day into something negative.

    Just let it be.

  68. C-A-T-S Says:

#66 let it go? I am trying to be thankful for the gift of Gillispie that was givin to Big Blue Nation

I don’t think you all realize how close we were to having a class with Stutz, Sutton, and V. Jones, if Tubby had stayed

  69. E-townCatfan1 Says:

Does anyone know the actual station where i can listen?

  70. papadalafunk Says:

REMEMBER IF YOU TREAT FELLOW PLAYERS IN AN A NEGATIVE WAY, WORD GETS OUT! IF A PROGRAM CONTINUALLY DOESNT LOOK OUT FOR THE BEST INTEREST OF ITS YOUNG BALL PLAYERS, THE WORD WILL GET OUT.TO HAVE PLAYED PLAYERS WITH INJURIES THAT REQUIRE LONG REHAB AND PUSH THEM INTO ACTION ALARMS MANY POTENTIAL RECRUITS. WORD IS OUT! COMMITT TODAY RECOMMITT TOMARROW. QUESTION? MANY NBA RECRUITS LOGG INJURIES AND REHAB. KENTUCKY RECIEVES AND F FOR PUSHING ITS PLAYERS BACK ON THE COURT. A YEAR OF ELGIBILITY LOST FOR TWO OF ITS UP AND COMING PLAYERS. NO ONE COMES BACK IN THAT TIME FOR THOSE INJURIES.NAME ME ONE I HAVE A LIST OF 75 ATHLETES, NOT ONE’ ON THE NBA LEVEL OR COLLEGE. LOOK DEEP BLUE LOOK DEEP! I WOULD TRANSFER TOO.BOTH MEEKS AND JASPER ARE CONSIDERING. WORD IS OUT! KENTUCKY WILL ABUSE YOU.

  72. E-townCatfan1 Says:

Meeks is staying! try being positive.

  73. Brink Says:

    70) Is that english?

  74. floorgeneral22 Says:

68 Dude c’mon… You can’t know that and neither can we….Lets just enojy the good news without hubris toward a person who is gone

  75. maxim99 Says:

70 - you speak of “negativity” yet you are the one bringing it up. Nice work!

  76. papadalafunk Says:

RIGHT I SHOUD BE POSITIVE. HOPING FOR THE BEST. THE NEXT TIME I TALK TO THESE KIDS I HOPE I CAN BE.

  77. maxim99 Says:

76 - put your pinky on the Ctrl key, then move up two keys and press down!

  78. E-townCatfan1 Says:

Who are you papadalafunk the bus driver?

  79. Freydaddy Says:

Umm, #70, two things, first your caps lock is on and second, who are you, the Oracle at Delphi? Go back into your cave on Beargrass creek and drink more Wild Irish Rose and smoke more crack with the other Tard fans!

  80. C-A-T-S Says:

Everyone look at #76 papadalafunk and get real use hearing stuff like that. Why? bc UK haters are starting to realize that it won’t be long before UK is back on top and they are getting scared.

    In one day we got

    Harrelson
    Dominique freakin Ferguson
    Hood named us his leader
Got word that Vinny Zollo will verbal on Monday

  81. maxim99 Says:

I figured out who papa is…Pearl or one of his kronies. Another recruiting tactic?

Note - this is a total joke. I enjoy BP’s style in the SEC, just from what I have heard, he uses agressive recruiting tactics.

  82. AwesomeUSA! Says:

70 - So the crux of your argument rests on high school kids being concerned that they’ll get too many minutes in college? The same kids who don’t ever come out of the games in high school? Yeah, if the biggest knock on Gillispie is that he’ll give you every chance to play lots of minutes, and doesn’t bother red-shirting guys when he thinks they’ll be going pro early anyway, then I think UK will be just fine on the recruiting front.

  83. papadalafunk Says:

TRUTH!!! ITS ALWAYS HARD TO SWALLOW BLUE SEE U IN THE NIT TOURNEY.

  84. papadalafunk Says:

BYE BYE PEOPLE COME TO SOUTHERN CAL.

  85. papadalafunk Says:

BYE BYE PEOPLE COME TO SOUTHERN CAL.

  86. AustinCityLegend Says:

Papa, are you Roderick Rhodes? I just figured it out

  87. Katfanalways Says:

It just keeps getting better. I believe I will pour a little bourbon out for this day. I have said it before, I like Billy Clyde’s style. He takes boys and makes men out of them.

  88. Brassooow Says:

I hope Billy Clyde is in a hot tub with lots of co-eds tonight! He deserves it.

  89. Deebo Says:

A USC FAN? THAT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!

  90. RCFOM Says:

Great day to be a CATS fan. Demmling had a small interview with Dominique and you can feel how much he likes UK and he seems just as excited to come here as we are to have him.

  91. IjustWantToWin Says:

I am not trying to negative. I am very excited to have 2 recruits in one day, and another possibly coming. I am confused about the class of 2009 though. We don’t lose anybody after next year unless they go pro or transfer. Unless somebody transfers this year, like Williams or Jasper, I don’t see how we will give schollarships for players like Hood or anybody in his class. Does anybody know more about the schollarship situation that might explain how this will work?

  92. Wolvezzz Says:

The attention from all these other team fans means they are getting scarred.

  93. cablaw3 Says:

Great job BCG! Starting 5 for 2008 - 2009: G Liggins, G Meeks, G Jasper / Galloway, F Patterson, F Stevenson, but the next 5 is where we stay solid - Harris (maybe starts), Jasper (starts if still here in ) or Galloway, Stewart, Miller and Harrelson. 10 deep with that talent - SCARY. And if PPat goes 4 years, 2010 - 2011 we hang the banner. Maybe sooner. And NFL Scouts are dumbassssesssss but thats another story - go Ortmeyer for saying 100 guys or more drafted couldnt hold Woodyard’s jock! AMEN. Besides, I dont think Marlon McCree has had such a bad run, eh?

  94. papadalafunk Says:

response to 91 u must first push an athlete out or over work or play someone hurt. My point!! KENTUCKY BLUE

  95. Freydaddy Says:

#93, put down the jim beam and go to sleep!
    Your all over the place!

  96. Carolina Blue is past tense for CAROLINA BLOWS Says:

#91–To answer your question, there is only 1 schollie available and that is Carter’s. You would assume that PP might head to the NBA, that would give you two, Miller could want to win and become a walk-on, but that is unlikely. There still may be some transfers next year. Remember, the only guy that was a BCG guy was PP (after Legion left). Williams is already out and if AJ doesn’t improve (which I hope he does) then he will spend a ton of time on the bench and second guess his future. Hood could walk on for 1 year and then get a schollie (highly unlikely). And then there is the always popular “Academic Scholarship” that everyone talks about but probably the least likely option since the player would have to qualify with the general population for the scholarship. Porter could possibly qualify. Believe me, if there is someone that BCG wants, he will find a way. Hope this helps.

  97. Ken T. Ucky Says:

Hopefully with this news and the Harrellson signing the UK worry-worts will simma down now!

  98. Splat Jones Says:

These Indiana fans are pissed http://www.insidethehall.com/2008/04/29/dominique-ferguson-to-kentucky  /

    BCG FTW!

  99. drew0422 Says:

91- go ahead and bank on Jasper and Williams leaving.

  100. TheOutlawJoseyWales Says:

    Ferguson’s do it better!

  101. wildcatmatt Says:

Ferguson kinda reminds me of a Kevin Durant type of player…a 3/4 in college but could go 2/3 in the NBA. Lets just hope that comparison is justified when he improves the next three years. I don’t really like to compare any HS kid to a big league talent.

  102. Dave C Says:

Papasucalot or WTF, take that Crack pipe out of your suck hole and replace it with a cockaroot you looser.
