I wont put up yet another picture of Josh shooting that free throw, but just give this update. Talked to my guy with Josh who said that he is back from his St Louis visit and will make his final call by Tuesday. Source said Josh was torn between the two schools but thought UK was still the leader. Majerus apparently did a great job on the visit and there are some ties pushing him close to home, but Harrellson likes the idea of the grand scale of the Kentucky program.
We shall see….

COME TO UK!!!!!!!!
April 27th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
I wont hold my breath after our recent run of no thank yous. Although those could all be because Josh has been our man all along, naaaaht.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Josh, I debated long and hard when deciding to move from home. It has turned out to be a great decision. UK is the right choice academically and athletically. You will enjoy your home away from home…where jean shorts are welcome.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
This Caleb Campbell kid is fly cool.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
If we gett Harrellson or Majok I’ll be happy. I don’t think we get them both (even though everyone here knows they would both play major minutes together).
Maybe we do get them both.
Just, I have seen a lot of people make stupid decisions lately, I think the oxygen levels in the atmosphere are lowering. Lots of bad decisions have been made lately.
Come on Josh, understand what Kentucky can do for your future. If you go to a pool, and see a couple of diving boards (one large and one small) just understand how high each can help you jump. It’s a combination of the person and the catalyst. Pick the big board and don’t live with regret the rest of your life! It’s that simple.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
Hopefully UK’s fanbase and national TV schedule and strength of conference and schedule etc will help encourage Josh to sign his name on the UK Letter of Intent. I also hope McCoy does the same thing.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Stevie to Buffalo.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Is SLU THAT much closer to his home? I mean, its not like UK is 2000 miles away.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
From what I understand, he lives VERY close to St. Louis University but so what??? UK is UK and St. Louis is a baseball town!!!!!!
April 27th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
SLU and UK are only about 7 hours apart by car. A very, very short flight.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:39 pm
Josh, Ater and Paul…c’mon down….(I can dream for a day or two)
April 27th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Billy has got to be sweatin’ right now
April 27th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
Let’s just hope Hawaii doesn’t get into the mix!!
April 27th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
I’d say Billy could care less. He reminds me so much of Adolph Rupp regarding his attitude of “if you want to play here great, if not great too, we’ll find someone who does.” LOL. I love that about Billy.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
If he doesn’t come, I’m blaming everyone who made fun of his jean shorts.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
He has to care, its his job to care. Putting all these effort towards building relationships with these kids for them to go somewhere else has to be draining.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Tie goes to the home town school usually……50/50 at best on this one….
April 27th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Hey, I said his jean shorts were welcome….
There is no Kentucky law that only gym and cargo shorts are allowed…
April 27th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
St Louis is not his hometown, is it? It’s not even his home state. It’s just a little closer than Lexington.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
I saw where the big guy (don’t know his name) from UCONN decided to stay another year. Wonder if this has any bearing on Majok going there? He’s a pretty big UCONN lean. I’d have to say it does as this will limit his playing time.
I’d have to say the way things have went that Harrellson will go to SLU. Just a hunch.
The whole Hawaii thing kills me, but it has to be solely based on academics. He will not qualify and he probably got wind of that from UK, hence the canceled visit. Hawaii will probably admit him. He’ll play a year and jump to the NBA. No loss, but it stinks to lose someone, anyone, to Hawaii.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
All I can say is BCG went 12-4 in the SEC with a VERY injury depleted lineup. Just imagine what he will do if/whn he gets some good players like J-Harrellson, A-Majok, P-McCoy etc. I really hope we get Jon Hood for next year because that kid is SUPER gifted and is from right here in KY. I heard he’s a Duke lean right now. Doesn’t that just make you sick? LOL
April 27th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
Josh is from St. Charles which is a suburb of St. Louis.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
I hope Josh signs with UK just so we can watch him dance after he dunks on somebody. That video of him dancing was priceless!!!!!!!
April 27th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
I think Josh actually “gets it.” Therefore, he will be a Wildcat.
How to you want to preface your stories to your kids and grandkids?
“When I was at SLU…” OR
“When I was at UK….”
April 27th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
I’m feeling like I’m back at a middle school dance. The nice looking girls have all been asked ot dance, and I don’t want to be left watching so I’ll take the girl with the nice personality and get on the floor.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
25. are you saying you don’t trust Billy?
April 27th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
My opinion means nothing but for what it’s worth, I truly believe the following events will happen VERY soon regarding UK hoops:
-Jasper will catch a plane and go home for good.
-Mike Williams will join Jasper on that plane.
** That frees up two scholarships.
Therefore I also think:
-Harrellson will sign with UK.
-McCoy will sign with UK.
-Sutton will end up at UK.
-Majok will sign with UCONN.
I would be VERY content if those things were to actually transpire.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
And for some strange reason, I still see Bud “Crackpipe” Mackey coming to UK.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
Hey I know this isn’t what the post is about but people need to go to ukathletics.com and check out Terry Clayton, just got named to the National Strength and Conditioning all-american team. For a kid who lost his hearing at a really young age he has done a lot of amazing things, and a 635 squat, 335 power clean, and 400lb bench are pretty friggin ridiculous.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
26, I’m talking about the pickings getting slim.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
does anybody remember the quote from adolph rupp somethin like “if a kid aint smart emough to play at uk hes not smart enough to even go to college”
April 27th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
Hakeem Thabeet announced he was stayint today ….. some think it is a bad thing for us but if Majok wants playing time, I think it is a good thing for us. I dont care if he is a 3/4, what this means is that a current 4 will not have to move the 5 spot to opent it up for Majok, they have all 5 starters coming back, and I dont think Majok will come in and start of Stanley Robinson or Jeff Adrien, and I think he knows this. This is MHO.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
27 - you could very well be right on
April 27th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
I heard he’s going to SLU because they will allow him to wear jean shorts without getting made fun of.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
32–see my post at #20. I agree. Just didn’t know his name.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
HillbillSlim I think you have a good opinion,Harrellson, McCoy, and Sutton put us right where we need to be. Majok’s handler needs to get his head out of his butt. Could be a problem. Majok would be a fine add if Harrellson doesn’t come. Sutton will be a better 5 than any one else in this crowd.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
This reminds me of the days when we crossed our fingers for the best of the rest. I hope its not like this every year.
April 27th, 2008 at 7:06 pm
I agree with Rupp. I want young men who want to be here. There are no measurements for heart and desire. When things get tough these are the people you want around. Any one remember the unforgetables. They said they were not good enough to play Division 1. So much for that!!!!
April 27th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
IMO
Harrellson & Majok hold offers.
If neither accept-offer goes to Sutton.
McCoy will be offered and accept if Jasper or Williams transfers, which appears likely.
My wish list: Harrellson, Majok and McCoy with Galloway, Liggins, Miller.
Excellent recruiting class and would not be upset if it is Sutton rather than Harrellson or Majok. Majok seriously considering UK offer if he is talking to his family.
April 27th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
One interesting comment made by TV broadcaster during the Boston-Atlanta game last night. She explained how the media and fan scrutiny at UK helped prepare Rondo for the NBA. Future NBA prospects should understand, if you can’t make it at Kentucky, then the NBA is probably only a dream.
April 27th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
The only thing I don’t like about Majok coming here, is having to here everyone mispronounce his name.
I think I can deal with that
April 27th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
hear everyone, not here everyone
April 27th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
Don’t worry about name pronunciation, we did survive Heshimu.
April 27th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
I know Billy G knows whats goin on, but I really dont like seeing juco guys turn down the Cats. Its all about the right fit I know. Some dork will get pissy for this but the program has slipped nationally. Thats obvious. I believe Billy G will staighten alot of that out this year by just adding depth to the returning team. It wont be long.
April 27th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
BILLY CLYDE FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!
April 27th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
This article doesn’t sound too good for UK IMO. I sure hope I’m wrong but it will be hard to lure a young man from his own backyard.
April 27th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
I hate to turn this into a Majok thread, but #32-Hasheem not Hakeem Thabeet coming back is NOT a good thing for UK. Majok wants to win a championship and having the big guy back in his mind helps those chances and takes a little pressure off Majok down low all the while. Thabeet coming back only helps UCONN. The kid is going there regardless. Go to Aaron’s UK basketball blog and read the latest article about his Uconn vistit. Uk and baylor have about the same shot to lure the big man away from Uconn and it ain’t gonna happen.
April 27th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Jeff Adrian is a beast, and much more of a post player than Thabeet right now. Thabeet will be an NBA player and could be now, but I guess he wants to get paid more next year by developing more. If you watch basketball then you must know that Jeff Adrian is there. He plays power foward, and Stanley Robinson is the small foward. I dont think Majok starts for UCONN at all, unless there are injuries. Jeff Adrian, I woul take all day. A little taller than Chuck Hayes, alot thicker, more offense, and a real mean streak. I hope Majok sees this and comes to UK.
April 27th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Mildew and roster plated titanium fence diggers are self-entitled polar barricaded icons.
In other words, Harrellson will not sign with UK.
April 27th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
47- Maybe Majok doesnt come to UK, but I dont think Thabeet staying helps them land Majok. Jeff Adrian was the leading scorer and rebounder 14.8, 9.1 respectivly.
April 27th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
#44 get your facts straight. no juco has picked any place over UK. they have to be offered a scholarship first. no one has confirmed any offers.
April 27th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
51 in a sense canceling a visit with UK after visiting Hawaii is turning down UK, offer or not.
April 27th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
#37 The reason this situation reminds you of that is because Gillispie did not have enough time with the ‘08 class. You should think of him as a master recruiter to have a class with Deandre Liggins, Darius Miller and Kevin Galloway. If Tubby were still our coach he would have wrapped the recruiting up after getting those guys. Gillispie is still out there busting his ass to try and get the best guys left. Don’t buy into the bull. We didn’t offer the foreign kid that chose Ohio St. and Flemings is a flake. We will sign Harrelson and McCoy which would round out a great recruiting class. We would have a 4 in Harrelson, a 3 in Miller, A 1 or 3 in Liggins and a 1 or 3 in Galloway and a 1 in McCoy. Miller, Liggins, and Galloway are all very basketball savvy guys who can play great D and rebound their positions. Harrelson will be able to score at the 4 and McCoy will develop into a really good all around point. In Closing, be happy that our coach is still out thier busting his ass for us as fans to put the best team on the court possible.
April 27th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
I’d like to see us get Harrelson and Mccoy. If Jasper and Williams both transfer I’d offer Sutton. It’s already a decent class, could be great if we sign a couple of these guys. Could be a little disappointing if we don’t sign any more and Jasper leaves. Either way coach G is doing a great job. There’s a lot of negativity surrounding the program that has to be overcome, and it will take some time.
April 27th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
5.5 hours from St. Louis to Lexington. You gaining an hour on the way home as well. Easy trip home if you want to go home.
April 27th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
47.) I hate to burst your bubble, but Hasheem Thabeet’s nickname is Hakeem Thabeet as a tribute to Hakim Olajuwan please refrain from correcting someone when you do not know what you are talking about. Thanks.
April 27th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Plus my argument simply states that Majok wants to play, and if he truel does want to play a whole lot, then going somewhere where all five starters are returning is probably not a good thing. JMO. I will tell you that Ater Majok will not start next year if he is at Uconn, unless Adrian or Robinson transfer or get hurt now that Hasheem “Hakeem” Thabeet is staying.
April 27th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
looks like we may have a nerd fight here
oh by the way its Hakeem not Hakim
so i guess…”please refrain from correcting someone when you do not know what you are talking about. Thanks.”
April 27th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
NERD FIGHT!!!NERD FIGHT!!! NERD FIGHT!!! My money is on GO CATS 2010!!!
April 27th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
No to Sutton….NO to Sutton…..believe me….he is not what we need…..save the scholarship…..we do not need another project just to fill out the schedule.
April 27th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
I would put myself as the underdog, he’s got more experience on me!
I just can’t stand people on here that can’t be corrected, right or not, who cares. Your street cred is not on the line here. He was right, and so was the other one, both made good arguments…at first
April 27th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
I’m cool with holding a scholly for 09. Harrelson and MccCoy would be nice. Jasper staying would be even nicer!
April 27th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Is Maze still in the picture?
April 27th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
UK is really not that far away!
It is perfect situation for him, where he should start from day one, and play major minutes. He and PP will compliment each other really well, and force teams to guard them both.
All of this on a major national spot light. With Harrelson, UK gets significantly better.
Hopefully he is mature and wise enough to recognize the opportunity that exist here.
April 27th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Totally off topic here, but how in hell was Wesley Woodyard not drafted?!?!
Many analysts had him in their top 100/top 150 prospects prior to the draft.
Many guys, outside linebackers, that weren’t rated nearly as high as Woodyard got taken in the draft.
Disgusting.
This guy ate up the SEC all season, was incredibly impressive in his pro-day/team tryout sessions (or at least that’s the word around the camp fire), yet he wasn’t drafted.
The kid is a proven winner and any team that ends up signing him to a free agent contract will be very, very fortunate…and all those teams that passed him over in the draft, especially those with linebacker needs, are going to regret missing out on one helluva football player.
April 27th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
61.) sorry if I offended you by defending myself ….. 63.) He has a visit set up soon. Just an FYI but I think Bobby Maze is known as a bit of a thug, and it looks like his college choices will come down to us and Cincinnati if that tells you anything.
April 27th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
http://www.kentucky.com/232/story/388869.html
When I started reading this story I thought to myself that the Ater Majok news sounds suspiciously well for UK, especially now with Thabeet coming back. Then I got to the end and well lets just say it reminded me that I was reading a Tipton piece…..
April 27th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
Woodyard signed with the Broncos
April 27th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
Where he joins Marlon McCree - signed last month.
April 28th, 2008 at 4:17 am
#69, if that’s the case, then will Woodyard back up McCree at safety?
Will he be strictly a special teams guy?
Or will they keep him at the OLB slot?
It seems that Marlon & Wesley have similar games and are similar in size.
The fact that the Broncos signed McCree might indicate that Woodyard will definitely be playing his natural position at the next level..and boy would I love to see McCree and Woodyard lining up for the same defense in the NFL..a McCree-Woodyard sandwich on a slot receiver cutting across midfield would be beautiful. I knew Marlon when I was at UK (lived next door to me and we had a couple classes together)–a real stand up guy, I love the fact that he’s doing well in the NFL.
