“Muscox” McCarthy upset by “Iron” Pete Czerwinski

by @ 4:40 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

The upset bug bit UK again yesterday when UK senior Christian “Muscox” McCarthy was knocked off in the Collegiate Nationals Eating Championship in San Diego.  McCarthy entered the competition as the #1 seed and decided to employ the use of Kool-Aid rather than water, a top-notch choice in my opinion.  Ultimately, it was enough for McCarthy, and he was beaten out by Canadian “Iron” Pete Czerwinski.  “Iron” Pete downed three ”Wave House” platters, which each contained two cheeseburgers, two hot dogs and fries, in the seven minute allotted time and received the $1000 first prize.  McCarthy received $500 for his second place finish.

The real gold of the competition, though, were the nicknames that the competitors decided to roll with.  Here they are, not in order of awesome.

#1 Christian “Muscox” McCarthy

#2 “Iron” Pete Czerwinski

#3 Carey “Powerhouse” Poehlman

#4 Brian “Eatin” Keaton

#5 Darrin “D Money” Wolff

#6 Ryan “Big Mac” McMillan

#7 Chris “Scary Spice” Hanson

The competition was moderated by eating commissioner Arnie “Chowbound” Chapman.  Seriously.

I heard that McCarthy really wanted to use water but he was forced to use Kool-Aid by Billy Gillispie. He is now blaming his second place finish on Billy G and is thinking about transferring.
