[Moderated by Matt Jones]

A few things before the most peaceful Sunday of the year….
— I must admit that I was riveted to the television today watching UK’s own Steve Flesch contend in the Masters. Flesch, who proudly has a big UK logo on his bag and is a huge UK fan, is only three back of the leader and is playing as solidly as any one in the tournament. On nearly every hole on the back nine, Flesch had a makeable birdie putt and had a couple more of his shots gone in, we could be talking about something really special. But as it is, the lefthander is going for Masters glory tomorrow, all the while with a UK bag right next to him.
In addition, Flesch holds the honor of being the only person ever to give Matt Jones a golf lesson, back when I was in high school and had (irrational) dreams of playing golf in college. I went with the rest of the Middlesboro High School golf team (a devoted bunch of golf prodigies) to a golf camp in Lexington, where I was assigned to Flesch’s group for the week. He helped me hone my swing from awful to simply bad, all the while telling me that I would be much better if I would wear golf shoes and not tennis shoes (I never obliged). Now this guy is going for Masters glory, no doubt spurred on by our encounters many years ago. If he wins, I hope he does not have the same fate as the MHS Golf team did when we won a golf tournament at Gibson Bay and were subsequently disqualified because one of our players stole a driver out of the club’s pro shop. Remember Steve….only play with the clubs that are yours.
— Big recruiting weekend as Kevin Galloway, Juan Pattillo and Ater Majok were roaming Lexington on their official visits. All three men were spotted by multiple readers at Keeneland (I thank the many people who sent me the information) and elsewhere in Lexington, with Majok said to be sporting a mighty fine UK coat. Galloway is of course already committed to the Cats and Pattillo is his JUCO teammate….and is considered to be the better player of the two by many and possibly an even bigger need. As for Majok, he has as much potential as any big man around and would get looks from the NBA if he could declare for the draft. If his weekend in Lexington was good, it would be huge for the program.
— The Boo Williams Invitational was this weekend, the first big event on the AAU schedule. Many UK targets were there and over the coming weeks, you will be introduced to them by our fine writing staff. For our purposes now however, it was the first AAU action of UK commits GJ Vilarino and KC Ross-Miller, both of whom play on the same team. Both were said to have disappointing performances by some of the evaluators, but I wouldnt much concern myself with that. I have found that AAU performances are good at looking at pure talent and seeing how players match up, but the final stats and performances tell you little about the players ability at the college game. Ross-Miller will be a star…period. Vilarino has some work to do, but he improved dramatically this year and I look forward to catching some of his games this summer.
— Ramel and Joe finished their week up at the Portsmouth Invitiational in Virginia. Ramel had a strong week on the whole, scoring lots of points and more importantly, dishing the ball to team members at a strong rate. On the whole he improved his stock and will likely see improvement on his status based on the performance. Joe only played one game and then set out the last two games, although it is not clear yet the reason. We will have interviews on this site with both of these young men this week in preparation for the beginning of the Barnstorming Tour.
— Heard there was quite a scene tonight at the Two Keys Tavern….let me know by email if you were around.
Big day of golf for the UK family. Stay tuned here tomorrow for any recruiting news that may come about and follow Flesch on CBS all afternoon….

April 13th, 2008 at 12:50 am
Only BCG really knows how many schollys. I’m thinking with him he would pull as many strings a possible (academic, ect…) to get talent.
April 13th, 2008 at 12:53 am
Patillo is a really interesting player. Averaged 17 points/game in 21 minutes/game, with 7 boards. Shot 40% from 3. Maybe he could step in and contribute immediately.
April 13th, 2008 at 12:55 am
I think the member porter and Carter get taken off of scholarship. Carter and Williams will probably transfer b/c of that, and Porter will stay on and earn an academic scholly. JMO

is majok still gunna take his scheduled visit for next weekend too or was this visit it?
April 13th, 2008 at 12:58 am
4.) I read the same thing, but in the article I read, his coach said he was not an offensive threat…..Which I really didn’t understand. He also went on to say that he was a great defender, but that he could drive and create if he had to on offense. I think he will help out all around, but if he does come, we will have 8 or so juniors to replace in two years. That will be hard.
April 13th, 2008 at 1:06 am
#8 I would like to see what BCG could do in two years with eight schollies.
April 13th, 2008 at 1:07 am
will flemmings be a junior too?
April 13th, 2008 at 1:08 am
Check this out. Let’s hope John Wall comes to UK in 09′. He’s the real deal.

April 13th, 2008 at 1:25 am
^ it blows?
April 13th, 2008 at 1:27 am
12 it’s not that easy…u can’t have top player come in and commit on his 1st visit…if it was that easy we would have a roster of all Mc Don. players

What Happened at Two Keys?
April 13th, 2008 at 2:47 am
I’ve never been to “Two Keys” therefore I’m afraid I can’t elaborate on whatever transpired there. But I will start a rumor. I’ll say there was a HUGE fight and 12 people got arrested.
April 13th, 2008 at 3:54 am
I think that everyone can rest assured that all three of the visitors had a good time tonight.
April 13th, 2008 at 4:06 am
18 Care to elaborate?
April 13th, 2008 at 7:30 am
Didn’t see that Flesch had a UK logo, based on the television coverage I didn’t see anyone else but Tiger.
April 13th, 2008 at 8:35 am
I hear you # 20. Regardless of the situation, they always make it about Tiger. Which is why some (or a lot) of golf fans resent Tiger. I wonder if the players feel the same way. I hope Flesch does well, but I believe the winner will come from the last group. Both are fun to watch, have interesting backgrounds, and one is an SEC guy (Vandy).
April 13th, 2008 at 9:01 am
Seriously, what happened at Two Keys? I’m going nuts here.
April 13th, 2008 at 9:23 am
Matt, your post’s like this one are the reason i come to this site 3-4 times a day. However the ew “writers” you have on here with their sophomoric humor lead me directly off the site.I am sure they mean well, but a more U.K. sports-recruiting approach with less poor humor would be greatly appreciated.Very good post today
April 13th, 2008 at 9:32 am
So glad you approve. Now he’ll keep the site going for the 69,999 of us.
April 13th, 2008 at 9:38 am
23- why not just read the posts by Matt and skip the others? I appreciate a site that tries to “mox it up” a little. Keep it up guys, you all are doing a great job!

People complaining about a free service absolutely puzzles me.
April 13th, 2008 at 9:55 am
16. Apparently Majok and other players were there last night….It would be nice to get details..as long as everyone behaved that is…
April 13th, 2008 at 10:12 am
Guys i am not complaining,i will still look at Matts work because he does a great job,i was merely offering my opinion.I hope you are not really so thinned skin
April 13th, 2008 at 10:27 am
I am going to take a stab at guessing what happened at Two Keys tonight:
1. There were plenty of douche-acting guys popping their collars. Many of which were wearing Cubs hats.
2. 75% of girls in the bar were under 21 and 93% were dressed like wannabe hookers.
3. The overall scene there was pretty lame, as per usual
At this point anything else would be pure speculation : )
April 13th, 2008 at 10:36 am
Give us the skinny on Two Keys. My favorite bar of all time. Nothing beats that place in the summer.
April 13th, 2008 at 10:38 am
What is wrong with tons of girls dressing like hookers!!!! Seriously?? If you dont like Two Keys then you probably werent looking at girls anyway
Go play with your blackberry, your the douche
April 13th, 2008 at 10:57 am
did the recruits go to two keys?
April 13th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
I’m a big Matt Jones fan, but I have to object. Getting Majok would not be “huge”. Getting Hopson would have been “huge”, a 7 foot project is not huge its called Shagariesque.
April 13th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
majok is not a project NBA scouts have said that Majok is ready to play NBA ball
April 13th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
I’ve been concerned about players at Two Keys in the past. I hope this is nothing bad.
April 13th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Steve Flesch is getting a lot of air time today! 3 shots back at the 8th hole.
April 13th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
i heard hes a project
April 13th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
First of all, Majok is barely 6′9″ and he won’t be a “project.” He’s a 4 star player with MAD skills and he will be awesome at any school. You better hope UK gets him. He can rebound and he can finish and he’s very agile for a big man. Google his youtube videos and see for yourself.
April 13th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
32) Two Keys blows, actually most of the bars in Lexington suck.
April 13th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
#40. You blow. You must be Alex legion’s twin brother. Say hi to momma for me!
April 14th, 2008 at 8:40 am
Ahh Matt reliving the glory years of high school golf.
We appreciate your teammate stealing the driver since we won the tourney
b/c of that.
April 14th, 2008 at 9:49 am
Ok, so what happened at Two Key’s!!!!!!!!!!
April 14th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
I was at Two Keys, didn’t really see a scene, unless you call Coury and Carter trying to mack a scene. I didn’t stay very late though. However, when I got there I saw Majok and Pattillo (I think?) standing at the exit with Ramon. I was three sheets to the wind and yelled out “Come to UK boys!” and to that the guy that I think was Pattillo said “I’m trying.” I thought that was interesting although maybe it was Galloway. I also expressed some love to Ramon who proceeded to give me the “Whats up” to the drunk guy comment. But anyways, my buddy found out that they got denied into Two Keys because Makoj is too young and didn’t have an ID. So maybe that’s what Matt is talking about. They left as soon as I got there.
April 14th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Thank you, cristoforouk for the update finally. The suspense was killing me. Wow, how the times have changed. They turn down people at Two Keys for being underage….
