[Moderated by Matt Jones]

Sitting here watching the Bill Keightley ceremony, I was as moved by the statements made by Rick Pitino as any that I can remember seeing in quite some time. For many years, I have had difficulty with Rick for reasons that are admittedly, not entirely rational. After seeing him today, watching his affection for the University and hearing him speak about Keightley, that time has ended. He is still the coach of the dreaded Cards, but he is also a tremendous part of the UK legacy. John Clay wrote earlier today that a tribute to Keightley would be to once again embrace Pitino. For me, that began after Rick’s comments tonight.

Well said
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:27 pm
Hopefully someone will have a transcript or a video, because I would love to hear his tribute.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:27 pm
I agree. I hope all the fans see his speech.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:28 pm
I’m with ya, Pitino was great.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:29 pm
I agree too. I will never pull for ul but my anger at Rick Pitino is gone. He spoke from his heart and you could tell of his love for Mr Keightley and UK.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:29 pm
Over the last few weeks I too have started to become more comfortable with Pitino for the first time since he went to Louisville. Maybe it was the respect I had for the way his team finished the year but I really think it came from the way I felt about our program and the direction we have taken. I am afraid I have been envyous of what he was accomplishinging, the way his team played and my fear that we we were not going to match that. I don’t feel that way any more. Like you said not entirely rational. But I still hate ut.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:30 pm
The last thing Mr.Bill did was bring UK fans to forgive and like Pitino again and he did it from Heaven,RIP Mr. Wildcat!
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:37 pm
I completely echo these comments. Truthfully, I forgave him a few years ago. I won’t pull for Louisville but I am no longer angry at him.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Pitino is VERY hard to hate after that speech. I’ll hate UofL the rest of my life, but I will not hate Rick Pitino. As a UK fan, you can judge me on that premise.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:43 pm
I agree 100%. I have started warming up to him again the last few years or so, but this is the nail in the coffin. I still hate UL, but I loved Ricky P. when I was a little kid, and I think it is time for me to grow up and realize that he will always have a special place in his heart for UK. He accomplished great things at UK when most people would not have even taken the job. For a person like Pitino with no UK, or the state of Kentucky ties, to take the job at that point in time while he was coaching the New York Knicks of all teams is truly remarkable. Number 7, great post, and so very true.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Let me say two things: one, Pitino raised UK from the ashes and will always have my respect as a bball coach. two, he’s a charmer and you should never trust a charmer… he’ll mean what he says today, and then say the exact opposite tomorrow and mean it just as much. Yes forgive him but let’s not get all warm and fuzzy here… you could make the sequel to There Will Be Blood about Pitino.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:51 pm
happened to me mid way through this season
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:54 pm
I agree Matt. His love for UK shines thru…
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:55 pm
My thoughts exactly Matt. Once again you are right on the money.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:56 pm
i agree. his speech was great. and he even wore blue. you don’t have to love him but i certain hope the fanbase respects him a little more. i think keightley would like that. i even hope we don’t boo him the next time we play at rupp.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Yes I whole heartedly agree, and we all know that Coach P knows it was his biggest mistake to leave UK.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Coach Gillispie will never be mistaken for a public speaker, but he did an excellent job.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:59 pm
yeah–you all are right—
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:00 pm
I have hated him since he left. I live in Louisville and I hate the cardinals. Have always hated the cardinals. Hated Pitino yesterday and didn’t want to hear him talk today. I would’ve been the one you might’ve heard boo when he came on tonight….
Pitino’s words also affected me. He spoke with deep admiration. I still think we have the best coach in the country right now, but I agree with Matt also. This is the time for this hatred to stop. It’s the least I can personally do to remember Mr. Keightley…
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:02 pm
didnt get to see Rick’s part when someone gets it please post it.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:02 pm
Tremendously classy
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:02 pm
A beautiful, beautiful service. Holding his memorial service center court Rupp was quite surreal. All of the memories from all who spoke, and seeing his chair, was touching but tough, even moreso watching online so far away.
Except….I didn’t think it would ever be possible, but I forgave Coach Pitino today going forward. It’s all good and life’s too short. Just love Billy Clyde and a whole bunch of people.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Gillispi has to be one of the most genuine, sincere person i have ever seen…..i am proud he is our coach
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:04 pm
It started for me when RP made his statments about how we should support Billy around the time we played them this year and that Billy would have our program back at the top soon. Tonights speech by Rick cemented those feelings. Coach G did a great job too. I didn’t think he would be able to keep from crying but he kept his composure well and spoke from the heart.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:07 pm
I hate Louisville, I hate Louisville fans… Pitino is OK by me.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Pitino also gave Mr. Wildcat tickets to UL’s recent regional game and he attended it. He said he thought he made alot of friends when he was at UK but he knows who his true friends are now the ones that stay friends with you and he was talking about Bill Keightley.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:10 pm
I think Billy gave a wonderful tribute from one ol’ country boy to another. He has a way with words that just makes you know how sincer he really is. As we raise our glasses tonight I just want to say this,Bill Keightley you have been a stable to this program the players and all the fans and although you are gone you will never be forgotten. here’s to you Mr. Bill Wildcat Keightley…
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Matt, well stated! I listened to the Mr. Wildcat memorial service while I exercised this evening and I felt like Billy Gillispie was feeling, all teary eyed. The plethora of speakers all did a nice job, each in his own way. As a motivational speaker not many can top Pitino, and tonight was no exception. I, too, felt some animosity fade away as he spoke. But my highest regards go to Jeff Shepherd and Billy Gillispie for their heartfelt words.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Yeah Patino is an ok guy untill he comes back to rupp with those damn cards…
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Matt, agree with you. I have always liked Rick even after he left and ultimately went to UL. I was honored to get to meet Rick in person for a brief moment in Tampa in 1998 while he was speaking at my company’s year beginning meeting and had Rick sign a couple of books for me. He gave me a few moments of time to do that with no one around except for me, him and two security guards that day. So I have always liked and respected the guy and tonight was a great tribute to Rick and his love for Mr Keightley and Rick still has UK roots even though he wears a red jacket.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:19 pm
I was glad to see all the players faces, current and of past. I saw a number of familiar faces. I would like to know just how many former players actually attended.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:19 pm
I agree complete;y with you Matt, though I never felt any bad feelings toward Pitino. I hate louisville, eventhough I grew up there, but Pitino has always been my favorite coach. I was blubbering like a baby during his eulogy and I missed him being our coach more than ever.
Anyway I hope Travis Ford can win this nit championship tonight for Mr. Keightley!
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:30 pm
I was at the service, and I came away with the same feelings about Pitino. Well said, Matt.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:32 pm
I am really disappointed that Pat Forde hasn’t written anything about Keightley on ESPN.com. He is a Louisville guy who has done multiple articles about UK and Louisville and I expected to see something from him.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Talk about a program in a shambles, -Kentucky Basketball was left for dead before Pitino became our coach. When he left for the Celtics, I was in disbelief. When he went to Louisville I thought; anywhere but Louisville. But, I could never blame him for wanting to move back to our Commonwealth (I did) and I could never hate him after what he accomplished for us (UK).
Now, (some) U of L fans, -a different story.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:41 pm
I think most people have placed hatred towards Rick Pitino because most of us wish he was still our coach. Not that I dont want Billy Gillispie, I just feel like most wish he would have never left in the first place. I was wondering recently (because UCLA, UNC and Kansas are back on top) what kinda dominance UK would be at if he would have stayed. Hopefully the kind that Billy G is about to get us back to. I wish Mr. Wildcat was gonna be around to enjoy what Billy G is gonna do with UK. Hopefully when they win that next NCAA championship they will dedicate it to him. Go Cats!
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:41 pm
You all are silly to have hated/disliked him in the first place.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Put me down with #28. All were good in their own way, but Billy Clyde, Jeff, and Pork Chop were shooting from the heart, not the hip. Joe B with an honorable mention. I never hated Pitino to begin with, just don’t enjoy listening to him speak.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:48 pm
if anyone finds a link where it can be viewed, please pass it on. Had to go to a bday party
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Couldn’t agree more Pitino’s speech almost brought me to tears there is no way I could dislike him after that.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:07 pm
I did not hear all of his eulogy, but I did hear when he said the Mr. Wildcat was the only tie he had to the school. Life is about loving God and people. Being a fan of a school is just a venue for that experience on one level. The fans of this school should be a tie for Pitino. He should be that other team’s coach when we play them. At all other times, he should be one of us.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:08 pm
IM sure Bill will would have love to see Ky embrace Pitino again. The feelings expressed here and the response at the memorial of Pitino’s speech should be as Bill’s epitath
“to Be Continued”.
Bill showed his love for pitino as a friend by attending the UL-Tenn game and sitting behind the bench.
Rick talked of his love for UK and his friend Bill. Pitino has spoken many times latley and reminissed about his UK days.
I agree, we don’t have to like UofL but, the man did alot for UK.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:17 pm
Does this mean we can no longer burn his effigy
j/k, classy eulogy from RP, my feelings have definitely softened towards him, even before tonight. Now if he could just heel Tom Jurich a bit, we could all get along. One big, happy commonwealth.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:23 pm
I just saw this post over on ESPN’s story about he passing of Mr. Wildcat. I’m not sure I should be stealing a post from another board, but I thought it was appropraite..

I will never forget when my beloved Cardinals took down the CATS in Tubby’s first year. I was on the floor pulling TV cable and was wearing my Cardinal Hat. After the win I was walking along the UK bench and bumped into him. I said, ” Excuse me.” He looked up to reciprocate and then saw my hat. I expected him to say something derogatory. He said, “Good for you guys….you sons a b!&%#hes.” We both had a great laugh. The Cats had the last laugh winning it all that year. Good Bye Mr.Wildcat…don’t pull any fast ones for your Cats while watching the games with Rupp.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:34 pm
#34. I sent Pat Forde an email the other day asking him to do an article. Maybe we’ll see one tomorrow after this memorial.
Is the service available on the internet somewhere? I wasn’t home to watch it on the computer live.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Where was Ramel? Did I just miss him? Didn’t look like he was sitting with the other players.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:38 pm
46- I believe he’s playing in the college all-star game in Texas tonight.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:39 pm
I can be fine with a person without liking the decisions he has made. That is where I have left it and intend to leave it.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Oh right–I forgot. Bad timing.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:49 pm
#46. I had forgot about that myself. I think Pitino’s comments from Mr. Keightley when he told him he was coming back to the state of Kentucky to coach would be perfectly fit for his advice to Ramel about missing that game…
“What the hell are you thinking boy???” (maybe not exact but close)
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:51 pm
As I reflect on the magnificent ceremony for “Mr. Wildcat”, a few thoughts come to mind. Deeply appreciating Coach Rick Pitino and Coach Joe B. Hall sharing their tremendous hearts we recieved a glimpse of how Bill embraced servanthood in his daily life. On this ‘very short’ journey seldom do we encounter love in its purest form. Today, I am reminded to smile a little brighter, cry a little more, hug when I really don’t feel like it, and wear my KENTUCKY BLUE with a little more pride!
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Coach Pitino has always been a good speaker…I have always liked him and I always will…I did not hold a grudge the day he left and I didnt have one when he took the job at UL..Was I sad he left..yes I was..but I moved on and others should of as well and not of hated the man so much..People should of known that what he did at UK..he was going to get the attention of the NBA..and he had a chance to go home to coach the Celtics and he took the chnace..who wouldnt if they were in his shoes…I never understood when people get on the case of a coach when he tells players he will be there and he leaves..things happen..people want to call the coach a liar…but let me ask you..what if a coach tells the players he will be here for four years and the coach is fired…who has lied then…Coach Pitino brought UK back to the elite in college basketball and now he is at UL..he can win every agme except when he plays UK.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:59 pm
speech is up at UK.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:03 pm
I was there tonight and I will never forget that experience and everything that was said, as well as never forgetting Mr. Wildcat and everything he meant to Kentucky Basketball!
Rick was my favorite, Joe B and Billy were great. Wish Tubby’s flight didn’t get grounded.
Mitch Barnhardt really was the only one that I could have done without. You could tell that he really didn’t have a personal relationship with Mr. Bill and didn’t have that emotional connection.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:05 pm
I also really enjoyed listening to Jeff Sheppard speak. Very moving as well….
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:10 pm
anyone know where I can watch the ceremony, only caught the last 45 minutes.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:14 pm
56- if you go to ukathletics.com and click on the banner on the right with a black ribbon, you can at least see transcripts. I’m not sure if they’ll get video up eventually. You could also check the wkyt.com website, they televised it.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Here Hear, Matt.
Mr. Keightley would want us all to embrace Rick.
The only reason he is in Louisville is because he wanted to be close to Lexington and that was the only job open.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:19 pm
thanks
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:21 pm
58 you are right on, and it was absolutely evident tonight as he openly expressed his regret, talked about how hard it is to be in Rupp because of the good memories, etc. It’s like getting banished from the family forever after you make a stupid teenage mistake. Punishment does not fit the crime. Let’s make peace. My new m.o. is “WWMWD?” (What would Mr. Wildcat Do?”
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:24 pm
you people are easily seduced. let’s remember this day is supposed to be about Keightley.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Keightley understood all and forgave all. How else can we celebrate him? If you were able to talk to Mr. W today, would you have the guts to talk badly about Pitino, or anyone else? I’ve got news for you–Mr. W is watching you now! Live up to his memory.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:29 pm
agree with 61. What did you expect pitino to say? Go cards? We all respect Pitino and I will never forget what he did for UK because I was a student from 91-96 but I don’t have to like him now. I appreciate and respect his words.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:30 pm
MATT JONES,
I heard your show tonight and wanted to call in while I was driving home on I64 but my phone was dead. You were talking about Pitino and how you thought this might change the minds of UK fans who hate Pitino. Here is my take on Pitino. He should have been our Coach K, Our Billy Donovan, Our Roy Williams and the best thing since ADOLPH RUPP. He had already tested the waters of the NBA once before and it didn’t work out. He should have ended his career as the coach of our beloved CATS. Instead he chose to be the Coach for our rivals to the West. He chose to be their Coach K or Billy D. So IMO not only did he rob us of probably championship number 8 or 9 by now if he would have stayed he chose to do all these things for our biggest rival. To me this is unforgiveable, yet I still can’t find it in my heart to hate the man. I actually really like him as a man and a coach. IMO he is the best active coach in the game and probably Top 5 of all time or at least when his career is over he will be. I still will never be able to pull for him at UofL. I just can’t do it no matter how much he still loves the University and no matter how many good things he says about men like BIll Keightly.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:35 pm
64)well said
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:42 pm
I felt like I forgave him until I read #64….now I’m pissed again
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:45 pm
its about keightley people. forget Pitino, of course he is going to say great things about keightley. Just make sure you are remembering Mr. wildcat, not mr. pitino
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:53 pm
i think the point is mr. keightley would want everyone to forgive pitino. hate UofL all you want, he did too. just don’t hate pitino. and after hearing pitino’s words, not just about keightley but about UK, he made that quite a bit easier.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:59 pm
68) i don’t hate pitino at all. I just don’t like that people are turning this into a Pitino Memorial instead of a Bill Keightley memorial
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:15 pm
What Pitino has done *after* UK should not affect what he did *at* UK.
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:27 pm
Well said - 70. We are forever endebted to Ricky P. Lest we forget, his name still hangs in the rafters.
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:38 pm
I think when Rick took the UofL job it was weird for a bit. But I never resented Rick.
If not for Rick who knows where UK would have gone during the probation years without him.
Rick Pitino is apart of UK’s tradition. I know he coach’es for UofL but he is one of us.
Rick loves UK and he echoed what we thought about Mr. Wildcat, he was the last link to history and triadiotn of UK basketball. I liked how he talked about how Cawood Ledford was the soul.
I love hearing Shep’s georgia drawl. He is a neat kid..
YOU guys remember when Shep hurt himself snowboarding. I think it was snowboarding.. Funny story.
It was soooo cool seeing all those who were a piece to UK basketball. It was like the UK family united.
Pitino and Tubby are like the former presidents. Too bad Tubby could not make the public memorial because he loved Mr. Wildcat like us too.
If I was a player and I saw this memorial this would motivate me even more about wearing the jersey.
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:39 pm
plus this memorial is a great lesson on how to live life…
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:39 pm
because mr. wildcat was a great example for enjoying life.
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:42 pm
OK ENOUGH we get it. Harrellson released from his LOI. Chew on that one for a bit and enough of this dreck.
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:48 pm
I agree with 64 in the respect that Pitino should have been our next Coach K, but we cant fault the man for wanting to better his career. I NEVER hated the man. I was however extremely dissapointed in his decision to leave his UK coaching career at UK behind to go to Boston. He is a great man and coach, and his comments about Mr. Wildcat tonight proved that. RIP
PS: Anybody who is in the mountains of eastern KY tonight, WYMT is repeating the memorial right now.
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:57 pm
It is not logical to hate either Pitino or Louisville. I rooted hard for UL against UNC!
We should have a healthy rivalry, one of respect with UL, not hate… After all, UL is the number 2 school with in the state behind UK. LOL!
April 4th, 2008 at 12:03 am
Hear,Hear!! I pulled for the Cards as well. Not just against UNC, but I started pulling for them as soon as UK lost. I admit I dont really pull for them in the regular season, but if they can win a championship when we cant and bring recognition to our state then Im all for it. Too bad they didnt beat Carolina.
April 4th, 2008 at 12:14 am
I love Pitino, but I cannot pull for the JV team (UofL). One of the main reasons for that is that I don’t want their fans to have the satisfaction. I know UK fans can be obnoxious, but UofL fans simply have no class.
I, just like Mr. Wildcat’s famous quote, feel like this:
“My 2 favorite teams are Kentucky, and whoever beats Louisville that day!”. Amen brother!
April 4th, 2008 at 12:19 am
I’m going to be real honest here… I was as sad when Pitino left UK as I was when I found out Mr. Keightley had passed. It goes to show how much sometimes we can value our teams success even being felt in the same part of the heart with the passing of someone who was part of the program for so long.
Keightley became as cloes to the program as you can become. He didn’t make it what it is but with the help of coaches who were driven to seek a level of excellence that few know how to achieve and many don’t understanding of how to accomplish, we have something that is real special.
# 64 MuhlenberCountyCAT - Pitino didn’t take banner #8 or #9 from us. Please step back and think about what your saying. He’s a rare guy living his life for his family and we are lucky to have had him help restore our program. He’s not from Kentucky like you and me. We are very lucky. Forget the money and the rivalrys, in the end we have banner #6 and #7. We got those gifts faster because of his assistance.
# 67 GoCats - With all due respect, this thread topic is about both. I completely understand what your saying and agree Pitino discussion shouldn’t overshadow the loss of Keightley, but if you tally up the threads and discussion devoted to Keightley since his passing on this site as well as at the water coolers around the Big Blue Nation in the past week, I don’t think you have much to worry about in that regard.
Matt made a good point at a good time. I think most felt what he said when Pitino was talking today.
#61 Brooklyn is missing the point. We are more forgiving to people who help restore our program and lead it back to excellence. How many people do you think wanted tickets from Pitino in the NCAA tourny? And Pitino remembers some old guy from Kentucky. Your just stirring the pot when it’s already boiled down. From your sentiments Mr. Keightley’s friendship with Pitino all these years was a big seduction as well. What for, so he can get some clean socks? How off base can you be?
April 4th, 2008 at 12:30 am
On another note, someone posed the question earlier about wanting a list of players that were there tonight.
I was there tonight at the left end of the court so I know I didn’t see ‘em all. But,
Here is who I saw: please add anyone you saw that I missed.
Rodney Dent
Walter McCarty
Scott Padgett
Kyle Macy
Dwane Casey
J.P. Blevins
Steve Masiello (if you want to call him a player)
Richie Farmer
John Pelphrey (spoke)
Jeff Sheppard (spoke)
All of this year’s team, except Ramel Bradley. (college allstar game I think)
I think that’s it. I’ll repost if I think of others.
I must point out that I did see Darryl Isaacs, yes the “Heavy Hitter”, there tonight. Just thought it was funny that he had time to take away from slaying dragons and giant robots to say goodbye to Mr. Wildcat!
April 4th, 2008 at 12:32 am
oh and I’m pretty sure I saw
Marquis Estill
at the other end of the court, too.
April 4th, 2008 at 12:40 am
Man, isn’t it strange how something like this can stir a full spectrum of emotions, and I’m not talking about Mr. Keightley’s passing, I’m talking about Pitino. When he was here, he was the face of Ky Hoops. He restored our pride, the fire was again fully lit. When he left, it was kind of like be dumped by a girlfriend that you had planned on spending the rest of your life with. You kind of want to understand why he chose to leave, but in your heart you don’t really. He was on top of the world, as were we. Then as the wheel turns, he winds up at our in-state rival. I love him for the time that he was here, but his leaving is still a hard, hard, pill to swallow. How much reward does one man require. He should have stayed. But we have a great one now as well. Film at 11:00
April 4th, 2008 at 12:42 am
Bowie was there
April 4th, 2008 at 12:46 am
that really sucked for Tubby. He had a chance to come on a good will trip back to Lex but it was taken from him.
I think my favorite speaker was Joe B.
Shep is nasty balding, needs to shave it
EVERYONE teared up during “My Old Kentucky Home”
Amazing ceremony for an amazing man
Richie Farmer’s mustache (and Richie) for governor in 2011, screw Beshear (It was funny bc he and his wife were next to Lee and Patsy Todd. Lee HATES Beshear after the budget nonsense)
April 4th, 2008 at 12:52 am
I think it’ll take longer than 11 years for me to give Tubby a break. Let’s see what time does in that regard.
April 4th, 2008 at 1:17 am
Here’s the video of Pitino’s statements at Bill Keightley’s visitation today. Thanks to KingBee133 on YouTube for posting this for anyone who wants to see it…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqTv8PA0Bd0
April 4th, 2008 at 1:17 am
billy d. was there
April 4th, 2008 at 2:20 am
This may have already been said, however I thought it was interesting that there were no ovations after people talking until Pitino’s (or at least I didn’t hear through the wkytv.com live feed). He got a pretty good ovation (as did most people after him), however he seemed to be the star of the show. I’ve always liked him and growing up in Owensboro, IU always felt like a bigger rivalry than Louisville…the hatred of UL is strong now, but about the same as it is with IU.

Beautiful remarks by Pitino that were sincere and from the heart, no doubt in my mind. Also, it looks like he possibly did his best recruiting job ever on Wildcat fans, and it worked. We are discussing him as much or more than Mr. Wildcat, sadly. Rest in Peace, Mr. Wildcat!

As most have mentioned, the comments last night were all from the heart. Rick Pitino was obvious
ly shaken from the ceremony as well as others. Mr Wildcat was an exceptional person and it very much showed
much showed. I have always repected Coach Pitino for what he did for UK basketball and believe
that those who do not will change their minds after last night. My sympathy goes to Mr Wilcat’s
family and all those who were associated with him. Peace.

I liked the article as well. He did wonders for UK, he is vocal about how he made a mistake in leaving, he still calls UK the Roman empire and talks about how much it hurts coming back and hearing boos. I hope we stop booing him. I hate UofL most of their fans, but respect Pitino very much.
