Truly one of the scariest images EVER!!
1. Interesting nugget from Tom Crean yesterday: he credits Dwayne Wade and the 2003 Final Four team with helping recruit this years senior and junior classes, including Dominic James. Also, a short story on Jodie Meeks and his struggles having to sit on the sidelines most of this season.
2. It looks as if Kentucky it taking the underdog role head-on, something this program has rarely had to do. It seems the players actually see it as a relief to not have the fanbase pressure this year. Great quote from Perry Stevenson when asked what ARE the expectations normally from the UK fanbase. His response: “Seven championships in six years.” Couldn’t have said it better.
3. Hope you got to see Scotty Hopson yesterday at Rupp because he won’t be there long after his University Heights team got dusted by Lexington Catholic in the 1st round of the Sweet 16. Hopson did have a good game though, 21 points and 9 rebounds.
4. Eric Crawford recaps the long, weird season that has been Kentucky basketball. You can disagree if you want, but I think if this team gets to the Sweet 16, it will go down as either the 2nd or 3rd most loved non-championship team in UK history, behind the Unforgetables and maybe Rupp’s Runts. To see the passion that UK fans have rediscovered this season takes me back to the 1993-1999 era, and its great to see.
5. If you are wondering who Sports Illustrated decided to jinx in the tournament this year, take a look. Hope you didn’t have any of these teams winning it. UNC still alive!!!
Alright my prediction: I think you are going to see a game that sends basketball back about 50 years. Alot of turnovers, alot of missed shots, alot of Jay Bilas criticism. And you know what? Thats the way Kentucky wants it and likes it. UK 55, Marquette 52. GO CATS!!!!

83-69 Cats. Ramel pulls a DWade and goes for 31, 11, and 11

I think PPat should dress and shoot any technical free throws like DA back in ‘97.

favorite quote:
“I mean, Kentucky?” Marquette guard Dominic James said. “I’ve never heard of Kentucky being the underdog. They’re one of the most prestigious schools in basketball.”

I thought this was “Pics to Click” not “PIC’s that will haunt you the rest of your life”.

Billy: “You know what I can’t stand? Big plastic headed mascots with orange cowboy hats.”
CBS: “Billy, SSHH!”
Billy: “OOOH, there’s one right behing me isn’t there.”

why on earth would you put that horrendous picture up?
March 20th, 2008 at 11:10 am
I think Hopson’s numbers were kind of deceiving. His defense was horrible and he definitely looked lazy. He had a good dunk and that was about it.

Sigh…awaiting moderation on the links, but FYI, Weems for Arkansas hurt his knee in practice but is expected to play. And Love and Mbah a Moute are both still recovering from injuries from their conference tourney.
Doesn’t change any of my picks, but might make a few of you antsy.

Reading news from CA. Writer has been at the Honda Center and said
coaching buddies there are stating “Marquette’s guards are streaky
shooters and Kentucky is playing a little bit better defense
(than the Golden Eagles) right now,”
He also notes something I did not know, Stanford’s Lopez twins
and Derrick Jasper were teamates for two years on spring/summer team.

March 20th, 2008 at 11:55 am
The line is well over 100,000 now.
March 20th, 2008 at 11:57 am
They are letting people in now. Just FYI.
March 20th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Don’t worry. Last year, it’d be at 100,000 and only take 10 min tops for me to get in if I wasn’t having any connection problems.
The number is misleading. They have a lot of capacity.
It helps if you have a VIP pass, though. Which I do.

So, get this, the only two Kentucky highlights on the historical clips are the 92 game, and the 97 loss to Arizona. Neither the 96 or 98 seasons are there.
March 20th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
19) those games didnt exactly have great endings or storylines nationally
March 20th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Well, there’s always the 2005 MSU-UK game, which that year, many called the best game.
And I don’t think they have anything from 05.

Here’s one guy who counted these Cats out in December. Oh how happy they have made me since that time.
