It is a late night here in Parts Unknown as we make our way towards the Mecca known as the SEC Tournament. The definitive tournament preview is coming from the Intern tomorrow. In addition, numbers 11-20 of the Top Tournament moments were released today and are below. 1-10 are coming today, but until then a couple of quick notes:
With the commitment of Kevin Galloway, the search is now on for a big man. The story to watch today is the resignation of the coach at Western Illinois. Why should you care? Well Josh Harrellson is a Freshman big man with mad skills that the Cats want BADLY and who is currently bound to a LOI to the school. Will the new coach change the position of the University and let Harrellson out so he can attend UK? Bears watching….
Billy Clyde co-SEC coach of the year, rame on the first team, Joe C and P-Pat on 2nd team and Patterson co-Freshman of the year. Nice day for the Cats.
Jodie Meeks could end up having surgery but UK is not willing to give up on him seeing some clock in the postseason. Thus the decision is likely to be put off in the hopes that he can still find some action at some point.
Big day on here today….should be fun….

Went to see Scotty Hopson play tonite. Can’t say that I am really excited about him. Yes he can score, but if you want him to play at UK, he needs to learn about that thing they call DEFENSE. Many times he would not even box out and go for the rebound, or be close to the missed shot. I understand he will be moved to PG/SF in college, but defense is the key. On here I have heard people questioning his attitude. That didn’t seem like a huge problem. But he does have some hops….A good pick-up if he is willing to work hard, but in no means do I believe he is good enough to be one and done. Sorry to be long winded!

I was surprised that Ramel made all defense team but no Ramon(not too surprised) and no Joe C (better defender in conference play than Ramel by far)

it says that scotty hopson isnt even considering UK on rivals. it says he has it narrowed down to louisville, tennessee, miss st, and cincy on rivals. why does everyone talking about him, and where is it coming from that people think we are going to get this guy? Just cuz hes from kentucky doesnt mean anything….

who is josh harrelson and what is he ranked as a player nationally

I still can’t get over Patterson being co-Freshman of the Year.
I’m not saying Calathes isn’t a phenomenal freshman, because he certainly is.
But Patterson is HISTORIC. That’s the only way of saying it.
March 12th, 2008 at 12:58 am
Patterson has been amazing this year no doubt, but so has Calathes. Calathes is more important to his team as well. We’ve been able to win without Patterson. When Calathes sat down because of foul trouble Sunday, Florida got sloppy and fell apart which enabled us to open up a lead. When Calathes came back in, Florida played more crisp and closed the gap. I’m not saying Calathes deserves it OVER Patterson, but I think he deserves it WITH Patterson, even if he is an a$$hole.

I think Chris Warren, Anthony Randolph and A.J. Ogilvy could have made a case for Freshman of the Year as well.

not sure what he is ranked nationally but hes like 6 foot 9 or 10 and coming from Missouri, he signed a letter of intent to W illinois but they wouldnt let him out of his LOI. Derek Thomas is an asshole who cant coach. He has put together a 28-86 record in 4 years with back to back 7 win seasons. I mean if you were a kid and UK came calling it sounds like it would be a no brainer. Now after he resigned (or was forced to resign) the new coach i guess has the ability to let this kid out. I am still kinda skeptical that a kid that is this good would be going to a program like that but who knows. He plays for Southwestern Illinois community college….dont know if he cant make grades or what but they say he has had Wisconsin , Kentucky , Illinois, Iowa, Indiana and Purdue in the stands taking a look recently. Hes had some big scoring games. Hes much needed though if he is even decent. What im wondering about is what the hell happend to leonard washington. I was thinking we were going to go get him this year and now it hasnt picked back up. i wonder if hes still in the mix.

Do we still have a shot with Verdell Jones after the Galloway committment

I have watched Hopson play a couple of times this year as well. I saw the same things as #4, he can play when he wants to, but stands around a lot and watches. I hope he realizes he needs a coach like Gillispie to push him. If he ends up going to Tenn or Miss St., then he will miss the things he needs. If he goes to Uk or UL, I believe he will end up being a good college player - maybe NBA or overseas one day. Does anyone have a good feel for UK’s chances?

Can we please find a Dr who is capable of successfully treating Meeks so he can be healthy next season?
March 12th, 2008 at 9:21 am
there is a dr. cameron in owingsville that will fix jodie for next year
March 12th, 2008 at 9:26 am
Please hold of on Harrellson until we know about Hopson ….. This kid chose Western Illinois over us, so it would def. be fair for us to hold off on him until we know something about Hopson for sure.
P.S. Mark this down 3/12/2008 at 9:25 AM CAnTuckeeBoi says, “Scotty Hopson will be in Blue for the 2008 season if Billy Clyde Gillispie wants him here.”
March 12th, 2008 at 9:54 am
Give me Turner and Flemings and let Hopson go to UT.
March 12th, 2008 at 9:57 am
We dont have two schollys unless Carter and/or Porter go to academic ….. bruh
March 12th, 2008 at 10:05 am
There will be 2 more schollies if there needs to be 2 more schollies.
March 12th, 2008 at 10:28 am
Not true. If that was the case then we would revamp the roster every year. I am telling you that Unless Carter transfers or goes to academic that the next recruit will be the last…..
March 12th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Not true? How do you know? There could be another transfer or 3 before now and then. I’d bet lefty we sign 2 more.
March 12th, 2008 at 10:55 am
#18…. that is the dumbest post in the history of this site. We didn’t even recruit Harrellson out of high School. That being said he did not pick WI over UK. The Coach said on his show he wants a SCORER and a BIG. That would be Hopson and Harrellson most likely.
March 12th, 2008 at 11:06 am
Thanks for the clarification ….. but on a not so dumb note the point is that we have only one scholarship as of right now and as a not so dumb person logic tells me that you cant offer scholarships that you do not have. Thanks.
March 12th, 2008 at 11:11 am
I am not saying that the Harrellson kid wont be a good addition I am simply saying that I would rather have hopson for next year, and get a frosh big next year.
March 12th, 2008 at 11:12 am
^ frosh in 09
March 12th, 2008 at 11:40 am
25- you don’t think coach G is aware of any scholly situations that might arise that you, I and Joe blow could possibly be unaware of? If he’s (still) recruiting 2 (additional) positions and even said he’d like to take 2 more, what do you know, being a not-so-dumb person, that the coach doesn’t?
March 12th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
I guess we will see ….
