“• I hate to disappoint Kentucky fans, who have every reason to be excited about their team’s run of eight wins in its last nine games, but I’m hearing Patrick Patterson is seriously considering turning pro.”
No offense Seth….yes you are the luckiest man in the world to have the job you have with the qualifications you have (second maybe only to me), but on this you are incorrect. I guarantee my source on this is better than yours and unless something DRASTIC happens (like a realization that he will be a Top 5 pick), Patrick is back next year.

Seth may be an idiot, but I would not be shocked if PPat went. Fact is, I do believe he should stay. He has shown they he still struggles against physical defenders such as Scott Padgett, and could really benefit to another year of conditioning. However, he would likely be a lottery pick now, and let’s face it, NBA scouts are fascinated with youth. Staying, even if it helps his overall game, could cause his draft stock to drop.

I dont think hes a lottery pick just yet. I think hes just on the outside. This years draft is VERY DEEP, and loaded with stars. I think PPatt would be best served working on his offensive game another year and then going pro.

Branden Roy stayed 4 years at Washington. Now an All Star in 2 years. PPat could use some more college. Plus, he will be a small PF in the league and I think will have difficulty until he gets more bulk. BC will teach him more skills that are necessary at the next level. There is not much training in the NBA and many clubs are sending kids down to the D-league for their training. Might as well get that in college and have fun doing it versus riding a bus to get to games.

NBADraft.net updated their 2008 Mock Draft yesterday, and they currently have Patterson, if he were to come out, being the 20th pick overall.
Basically Pat, they are saying you need to stay in school.

PP would be a smallish power forward and doesn’t have the outside game to be a small forward. He needs to stay and work on his ball handling and his perimeter shooting.

Agreed #33, those are the exact reasons he won’t leave. The only people that will get in his ear about declaring (money grubbing agents) are the ones that don’t matter to quality people like PP and his folks. I don’t see them falling for the bullshit that falls out of those guys faces.

I’d be surprised if PP left after one year, but BCG did allude to PP having to make an important decision in the “very near future” in his call-in show last night. It was in the context of a caller asking what we could do to keep PP at UK as long as possible. BCG said that the staff tries to help a player keep improving but then went on to say that a player who would go in the first round has a big decision to make and a player who would be a lottery pick would have a very big decision to make. FWIW I was left with the impression that he (BCG) wouldn’t discourage a player who would be a lottery pick from going.

Just to add that I disagree with those who say PP would be a SF in the NBA. The NBA trend is toward smaller
line-ups. With his height and ability to score inside in traffic, it’s difficult to understand why a NBA team would want to play in him at the 3. All his strengths point toward the 4. Can you imagine PP with another 15-20 lbs of muscle as he continues to mature?

Pat’s cousin’s brother’s sister used to date my sister’s cousin’s brother, and they went out to eat and try and rekindle their old flame last tuesday. Well Seth Davis was their eating with Dick Vitale and Jerry Tipton, Billy Packer, Rece Davis, and Jay Bilas, and apparently next year the NCAA is going to lift new ruling to allow Demarcus Cousins, Noel Johnson, John Wall, and Derick Favors to all enter the draft and hopefully keep UK right where they are!
