In case you haven’t heard, word broke over the weekend that the Kentucky football team will sport new uniforms for the 2008 season. It is being reported that Nike has elected to take the Oregon approach with UK, and will offer several different uniform combinations for the Cats to scare away their opponents with.
What will they look like? Who knows. I myself can’t wait to see the new get-up as I love me a good college football uni.
Let’s just pray they don’t look anything like OSU.
Let the speculation begin!

How many different combinations can they honestly come up with? We aren’t like Oregon in that we have a three-color scheme to work from. It’s blue and white. Don’t bring black or silver/gray in. That’s ridiculous.
Am looking forward to seeing them, though.

I have always hated the blue helments. I much prefer the white with the large “K”. As for the unis, I don’t like the current ones because they have a fleece look to me. I don’t think the blue is correct either.
Please do not go with the either of the picture looks however.

The “Ducks” are famous because of those Nike Uniforms - the other PAC10 schools wish the had Phil Knight’s money backing their programs.
Hopefully, UK will be the envy of the SEC

UK’s Blue & White - how will they change
Remember, Oregon’s colors were Green and Black before the Nike makeover
The Beavers were Orange and Black
I expect a change with the new UK uniforms

I don’t want to look like Oregon but not because there ugly, there
Oregon’s uniforms not ours. I don’t care if there ugly as long as they
stand out. It is all about marketing. Sometimes a really ugly uniform
brings alot of attention and creates an idenity.
Someone mentioned a black uniform with blue lettering. I like that.
The uniforms haven’t really been that bad for UK. It is the helmet that
is kind of boring. They need to come up with something more modern with the
helmet

God help us if UK incorporates black like the pieces of trash due west. I’d have to believe Brooks has at least a couple contacts at Nike, hell, Oregon plays on Rich Brooks Field. I loved the throwback helmets and jerseys from the Ohio game a few years back…and no, I’m not superstitious.

What if the offensive line takes a hit next year like the running backs?Granted Pulley will be more adapt to tuck it in and run,but you saw what happened to Oregons season when they lost their starter.Plus you cant lose kids to other schools,the greta thing about this years class is the other offers they recieved and still picked Kentucky.Maybe a sign of things to come or a one and done situation?

I am praying they don’t incorporate those tire treads like the Ducks have. I don’t think it is very intimidating to look like you just got run over by a truck before taking the field.

Our fans are too old fashioned… a white helmet with a block K? no black? is this 1974? That would look good for a throw-back type game but not for the whole season. I’d love for UK to have a black alternative uni, maybe wear it in a big game. I hope they incorporate white pants with the blue home jerseys instead of all blue… it makes us look like a high-school team IMO.

I think Oregon has one of the best uniforms in college.They seperate themselves by not being the norm.Ask the players what they think and thats all that should matter!

maybe use silver or gray as a third color, but the above poster who mentioned duke was right on target…we don’t need black to make us bad ass, we need more guys running sub 4.4 forties and corn-fed linemen…i would maybe like to see some more modern swoops and swirls, but no black lest we become too much like our citified neighbors or sissified dukies…

OK fine it’s diamond plating. So instead of tire treads it looks like they were knocked down a flight of stairs at a power plant and then stomped on to permanently imbed the marks into the uniform. Still unintimidating to me.

Seriously, no more Nike gimmics. The problem is that UKAA should hold Nike by the short hairs instead of the way it is now.
White pants, blue shirts, white hats, black shoes. Did Alabama change their unis to get attention? How about Penn State, Michigan, Florida State, Texas, Nebraska, Tennessee, Georgia, blah, blah, blah. Tradition sells itself (feel free to define tradition as you please, it’s not up for arguement).

NO BLACK ON THE UNIFORM……..Less is more when it comes to UK. Blue and white. If they do change them I would like to see the stripes on the shoulder pads similar to the Indy Colts. UK wore thoose uni’s for a game a few years ago and looked great.
