[Moderated by Matt Jones]

That picture above showcases your newest Kentucky Wildcat…..and that is quite exciting. It was a great morning here around the Kentucky Sports Radio Compound as I went to my email, found a note from the great Etwnappel saying Darius had committed to UK. I did my diligent duty and called Darius’s father who at first said, “Yeah he committed….but he isn’t talking to any media.” I stammered a bit and he laughed and said, “Just messing with you Matt…..I know you can take it.” He passed the phone to Darius and you could literally hear the excitement in his voice. There was clearly a celebration going on in the background and it sounded like the UK commitment had the entire county of Mason County joyous (as seen by the rumors today that when announced at his high school that Darius had committed, the UK fight song was played).
This is a huge get for UK and one that fans should be thrilled about. After the Patrick Patterson saga, it is hard to say that any commitment is as big as that one….but if there is, then Darius’s decision may be close in terms of impact. This is a kid from the state who can help energize the masses and be a true in-state talent….one that Kentucky also coincidently needs. Just an all-around big moment.
And as for the story today, I thank the folks at Kentucky Sports Report, Wildcat Nation, KentuckyInk and the other UK sites for allowing all the talk to continue on Darius. Another website made the decision to act as if we werent the first quasi-media outlet to give the confirmation of ET’s scoop with our interview with Darius and has deleted every mention of our site and the story from their site….thus giving the impression it broke there. We all know who this is. However Kentucky Sports Radio was credited on WKYT today and I appreciate all the feedback from the fans. Free news for the masses…..gotta love it.
Darius will be on Kentucky Sports Radio on Monday…..tune in. And DONT FORGET to make your picks at the Yahoo Pick Em Contest……

rock on Matt
September 7th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
Could you figuratively hear the excitement in his voice too?
September 7th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
lol, no just literally
September 7th, 2007 at 1:07 pm
kentucky sports radio > CATS PAUSE
end of story.
keep it up Matt…
September 7th, 2007 at 1:08 pm
I’m literally thrilled with this. I think it just moved!
September 7th, 2007 at 1:08 pm
So I guess it is true.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
Matt, Have you heard from Kige Ramsey yet?
September 7th, 2007 at 1:10 pm
wonder why the catspause doesn’t try to work with you and your site. they should try to unite the kingdom instead of separate. they must crap their pants every time a free site breaks a story on them.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:11 pm
Matt I would just like to let you know that the site whose mods acted like a bunch of children this morning blacklisted me because I mentioned your name apparently. I am seriously considering never posting there again even if they reinstate me.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:13 pm
man, this is some balls-in-your-face excitment.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:13 pm
Im have been dancing all morning, not sure how that is helping but I am very happy man.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:15 pm
#4, amen.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:17 pm
Great work Matt! Those guys at that other website are a bunch of idiots! They act like if you don’t have 1000 comments then you don’t know what you’re talking about. The people who post all the time are complete bafoons. Your site is the best. Keep it up. Where’s Turkey hunter been?
September 7th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
this is awesome, i cant wait to see him in wildcat blue
September 7th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
“But I expect Darius to wake up any morning, and it could be soon, and tell me that he’s decided where he wants to go to school,” Miller continued. “He’s the type of kid that would do that because he’d rather not have all that pressure and attention on him.”
This comes from the Lexington Herald Leader and I hope he doesn’t expect the pressure to go away now that he has committed. Watching Darius play several times, it is obvious is the most talented player in the state and one of the premier players in the country. I hope we see him become more aggressive and more selfish this upcoming HS season.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
You know what I love most about that picture? It’s not the balls in the face, it’s not the look on the face of the kid behind Darius, it’s not the pure athleticism that obviously ripples through Darius’ body… it’s the fact that in the background, you can see the scoreboard and if you look closely, you can see that this was the first points of the game. Talk about starting out with a bang! Welcome aboard Darius! Can’t wait to see KENTUCKY on that blue and white jersey!
September 7th, 2007 at 1:19 pm
One scholarship remaining. Liggins and Miller on board. Clark or Big? Given the current talent and size, my vote goes to Clark. Enough size and talent to offset any immediate needs. Kentucky offense, run baby run!
September 7th, 2007 at 1:21 pm
KSR is the best site for UK sports - but I must complain - where’s my football fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 7th, 2007 at 1:21 pm
Chuck you piece of shit! Use your own damn name, lol!
September 7th, 2007 at 1:21 pm
Does this mean that Mason Co. can now re-enter the Commonwealth of Kentucky?
September 7th, 2007 at 1:21 pm
Matt, I would just like to take a minute to thank you and the staff of KSR! You guys do a phenomenal job day in and day out, and it should never be taken forgranted. Simply put, you guys give us the NEED TO KNOW INFO, period. Before I found this blog, my info was grossley inaccurate and incomplete. Thanks for everything! A fan for life, Brian Givens
P.S. We know the truth about who broke this one, not to mention the fact that KSR almost single-handedly kept the intrest level high on Darius!!!
September 7th, 2007 at 1:27 pm
as far as FREE news and rumors, KentuckyInk and KentuckySportsRadio are the best two sources. Good job here guys.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:31 pm
Now that Mason County is back in good graces with the BlueCats, what about me? C’mon BABY with a capital B. Bing, banannas, Bluegrass Baby. Back in Blue!
September 7th, 2007 at 1:31 pm

September 7th, 2007 at 1:38 pm
Who’s next, Clarke or Sampson?
September 7th, 2007 at 1:40 pm
An absolute great get for BCG and UK. Darius Miller is a wonderful basketball player w/a ton of upside and more importantly a great kid. I know his father well and this is a great kid w/a great upbringing who has his head on straight. Congrats to the young Miller and best of luck during his senior season!
September 7th, 2007 at 1:42 pm
I am canceling my subscription to catspause. They removed my post and who needs them.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:43 pm
BCG has taken Maysville back from UT/Pearl.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:44 pm
This site would be better and probably taken more serious
without the idiot name calling, goofy psuedo-names and such.
And without Mattox for sure.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:47 pm
If it werent for the goofy pseudo-names and idiotic rants, it wouldnt be Kentucky Sports Radio.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:50 pm
Where else can you find Al Purnell here, Anonymous,Marc Maggard. It’s hilarious at times.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:50 pm
I’ve always wanted a Darius.I thought it was going to be Darius Rice…glad we didn’t get that guy!
September 7th, 2007 at 1:51 pm
Matt Jones is the shit!! He is only below Kige Ramsey in his inteligence and good looks.
I expect this site to be taken over in the next 2 to 3 years by a fortune 500 company. I just hope that Matt is smart enough to let me broker the deal.
Until next time…
I am King Nate

We might have to end our fishin’ trip ifn this gets any more excitin’.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:53 pm
I’m hearing Jai Lucas is about ready to make a decision
September 7th, 2007 at 1:59 pm
Matt,
Way to be all over this one. If the aforementioned media outlet moguls claim to be journalists, then they need to start giving credit where it is due. Dealing with them is like buying soup from the Soup Nazi. Say and do the “Right Thing” or it’s NO SOUP FOR YOU!
September 7th, 2007 at 2:00 pm
Matt what do you think of the possibility of John Riek bypassing college?

September 7th, 2007 at 2:00 pm
I want to go to Kentucky! Please take me!
September 7th, 2007 at 2:00 pm
I miss Matt talking to Jai
September 7th, 2007 at 2:01 pm
Now all we need is either J’Mison Morgan or Ralph Sampson for a center, and we’re set. (I just don’t think we’ll land John Reik)

September 7th, 2007 at 2:03 pm
When I woke up this morning I thought I wonder if today is the day D. Miller will commit? I went to my favorites and clicked on KS Radio like I usually do and there was the news. I deleted TCP from my favorite list since I hardly ever go there. Today was the final straw with them. Great commitment for UK and Darius. Keep up the great work Matt.
September 7th, 2007 at 2:04 pm
Bad call on landing this guy.
September 7th, 2007 at 2:09 pm
Not strong enough to play in the SEC and doesn’t fit our style of play
September 7th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
matt never gave up on miller maggard did though he told everybody that it did not
look good for uk and miller and said his sources told him he was illinois bound .

I told people for months now that we’d get Miller…I don’t know why I always thought that, but I was right…and damn it feels good.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeelllcoome aboard Darius Miller…
September 7th, 2007 at 2:22 pm
Good work Matt. I know you get alot of crap for posting rumors and information
that ends up not being true.
I see several ways:
1) I rather you post the information/rumors you are hearing verses not doing so.
People need to be smart enough to known that rumors are just rumors.
I like how you do that because it gives us UK fans:
a) something to talk about
b) even if the info is false, it came from somewhere and at least
gives us some kind of insite on what is and/or maybe going on in
the recruiting world.
2) UK fans are the most passionate fans around. We don’t live our life
and everyone once in awhile check to see what the facts are surronding
our team. We like to be right in the middle of it all. We like to know
the rumors, predict, discuss, and try to mix all the little things to
try to draw the bigger picture.
3) Your site is FREE. In the internet world that is a luxuary. Seems like
everytime I turn around I am being ask to pay for services that where once
free and/or should be free.
-can’t even get good sports information on ESPN anymore without becoming
a F#*$ing Insider.
4) Blogging and Message Boards are suppose to be/should be open to express
your feelings and thoughts (as long as it is decent). However, to many
other places delete and/or kick you off for selfish reasons. ie) talk about
the person who runs the site, talk about other sites, and/or kick you off
because your views are different from the people who run the site (this one is
my biggest beef). Your site doesn’t do those things.
examples: Cat Pause (which you have to pay for) and LHL (if you don’t agree
with Tipton (or don’t show Tubby love), they just simply kick you off.
5) HERE IS WHAT I LOVE MOST (well other than the fact it is a free site).
Other sites show rumors just like you do but then all there other stuff
is of no interest and boring.
Your site is for the real sports fan, not just the UK fan. Your site is geared
towards UK but it also covers topics that interest people that are fans of all
kind of sports. This site is for those who are down to earth people who enjoy
life, don’t let the “real world” stress them out, that are not geeks/losers.
This site is kind of those guys in high school that where classified as Jocks,
geeks, nerds, etc. This site is for guys who where the athletes but also made good
grades. You know the guys that are smart (but don’t make a big deal about it), athletic,
gets the girl, etc.
In other words, this site isn’t for old men who are past their prime and knowledge
on the game (LHL) or for those who believe what they hear/what others say without
keeping an open mind and doing the research themself (Cat Pause)
This site is geared for all people but really reaches out to the All American
boy and girl. We are all die hard UK fans but there is a difference between
being a die hard fan and those geeks who sit around their house and pretend (in their head)
that they are the UK head coach or the next big time UK player or whatever.
Go MATT - Great Work and great site
Go DARIUS MILLER - great to have you as a member of the greatest basketball
program of all time.
Go UK FOOTBALL and to all the fans who showed up to the opening game. That was
awesome to see
GO BIG BLUE NATION!!!! We are truly the very best fans out there
ON ON UofK!!
September 7th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
50) Geez man…write another page…(J/K)
September 7th, 2007 at 2:26 pm
Hopson and Mackey > Miller
September 7th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
I don’t see what’s so great about the picture. It doesn’t look like he’s even gonna make it to the rim. I wonder if he even scored on the play.
September 7th, 2007 at 2:30 pm
Great work, Matt. Keep it up, as we love your site!
Screw the haters, man, you and Rob are developing the best Kentucky football/basketball community on the Internets and with the addition of Forums through WCN, the sky is the limit.
Keep on keepin’ on!
September 7th, 2007 at 2:38 pm
Don’t forget to do your football picks today. First game is tonight.
September 7th, 2007 at 2:41 pm
#54 is spot on. Nice going KSR crew!!
September 7th, 2007 at 2:44 pm
23.) NO WAY! Your are going to have to pay your dues, Dick we know what color blue your talkin’ about & it ain,t Kentucky Blue.
50.) Great post.. Thanks for this site guys!
September 7th, 2007 at 2:44 pm
Agreed, Mattox sucks. The only way to get him off here is apparently to not click on his stuff, therefore giving the impression that we are interested in what he has to say. I bet he is pissed that we are all talking about recruiting again. Up your butt Mattox, this is what this site thrives on and recruiting and Matt’s efforts are one of the main reasons we gather here.
September 7th, 2007 at 2:47 pm
i love dis site keep up the great job you guy’s are doing
September 7th, 2007 at 2:49 pm
52) IF they ain’t wearing Blue to us it ain’t true!!!
September 7th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
I think it is clear Matt needs KSR to try to lure away their posters to his site. They are far and away the most highly visited UK fan site on the internet.
You guys love Matt, but only a small, small fraction of UK fans have a clue who Matt Jones is or what Kentucky Sports Radio is.
I can’t blame TCP one bit for refusing to be a free advertising vehicle for Matt, his board, his radio show, etc. Whining about it just makes you guys look like spoiled children.
Carry on.
September 7th, 2007 at 2:57 pm
is there actually a chance that we can get monroe? dont tease me, matt ;)!
September 7th, 2007 at 3:01 pm
I meant TCP obviously.
September 7th, 2007 at 3:01 pm
Matt, can you send me an e-mail. I tried to contact you via the e-mail address on the site but it is not working. I have an interesting BCG story and pictures from the football game last week.
September 7th, 2007 at 3:02 pm
You mean Darius won’t be on CatsPause radio?
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I bet they rue the day that TCCAT turned into a slimy vacation scammer.
September 7th, 2007 at 3:02 pm
61- What you been smoking? TCP is a armpit for spoiled children. Go back where you belong. Hardcore UK BB junkies know who MJ is and what he provides for free.

September 7th, 2007 at 3:15 pm
i’m still a douchebag of epic proportions. TS
September 7th, 2007 at 3:16 pm
Hey Matt, I have a off the subject question for you and for all the
UK Fans on here.
I know this is off the subject but it is killing me.
For my fantasy football team should I go with:
1) Veron Davis vs. Cardinals or Winslow vs. Pitt
2) Brady (safe pick) or McNabb (who might actually be a fatansy sleeper this year)
September 7th, 2007 at 3:25 pm
Where’s my fix?
September 7th, 2007 at 3:28 pm
71) both are great… but I’d go with Davis. He’s a BIG part of SF’s offense and Zona’s pass d is worst then Pitts. Winslow may be more polished, but Davis is a freak… Just my two cents though
A great start for BCG… First two commits for 08 are #17 overall recruit and Miller’s what… #35 Great start!
September 7th, 2007 at 3:30 pm
Matt, look whose in FIRST PLACE in the Kentucky Sports Radio 2 Pick Em League!!! One of these days I think you will FINALLY give Jared Carter some props.
September 7th, 2007 at 3:32 pm
74) I’m taking it this week though… at least in my KSR league… I’m right in the f’in middle right now…
September 7th, 2007 at 3:35 pm
#70,thats a good one and totally agree. Cant wait till that guy is laughed off this site.I dont even like need to know wednesday, but it is insightful and well thought out.
September 7th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
stop the violence!!!!
September 7th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
I canceled my membership to catspause, I am now w/ another rivals site unit my membership runs out and I will not be renewing.
September 7th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
i know bcg gets credit but lets give some to tracey webber too…
September 7th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
78: I quit Rivals a long time ago. The discussion is a cesspool of idiots. I come here to read the rumors, go to KSR (as in Kentucky Sports Report) for Larry Vaught articles and recruiting interviews and discussion. I really don’t feel the need to go anywhere else.
September 7th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
TCP is reacting like the old press did to the internet…
September 7th, 2007 at 3:53 pm
79- Does Tracey Webber work at Minnesota?
September 7th, 2007 at 3:53 pm
I WIKE BWASKETBWALLLL!!
GO CATS GOOD GIT!!
September 7th, 2007 at 3:54 pm
#73 Thanks. That is why I drafted Davis. He is a freak of nature.
Yes you are right, great start for Gillispie but lets not forget
that this is Gillispie’s 3 great start at UK in only 6 months on
the job.
1st great start was in 07: Patterson #12 and Legion #39 not to mention
that the class of 07 looks alot more talented than 08. Oh and also
Legion looks to be like Meeks; which is that they are/where very underrated.
when all is said and done Legion will be a top 15 player from the class of
07
2nd great start was in 2010: Euton is already a highly ranked PF and
looks like (after summer camps) maybe even alot better than we already
thought. KC ROSS MILLER - enough said he is a stud
In great standing with Trae Golden who is more than likely a top 5 player
in 2010
3rd great start: Got UK Elite camps up and runnning again
most important great start: He has got the current players to believe in him
right away. He got them excited and reenergized them. No one transfered and
the ones who might after this season will be because Gillispie has gotten better
players either already or coming in. Not a bad thing at all
Yes you are right this is a great start but Gillispie has already gotten
a great start. In fact he has probably done more as a new coach than any coach
has ever done in college basketball in this short amount of time.
I share your excitment. Who would ever thought that Gillispie be this
freakin awesome before he has even had his first practice? Lets not forget that
Gillispie has actually made his name, not by recruiting, but by winning. We seem
to forget with all the recruiting stuff that he actually built his name on
in game X and Os, player development, and most important WINNING!!
Who would ever thought at first that Gillispie might just be the most
complete coach in the Nation.
Good coaching ability
Great player development coach
Great motivator
Freakin Awesome recruiter
and oh yeah, he doesn’t have a wife, therefore he is married to the UK
Basketball Program.
What more could we ask for? No wonder Pitino, Tipton, and all of ESPN didn’t
want us to put pressure on Tubby to leave; they knew that we could be much better
than what we were and didn’t want to see that happen.
In fact Gillispie is so good that
1) BBall recruiting is becoming a bigger focus in the offseason than it has
ever been
2) He has reenergized good coaches like Coach K, Pitino, etc to step up there
game.
GO BIG BLUE
September 7th, 2007 at 4:01 pm

September 7th, 2007 at 4:57 pm
That other website that tried to take credit for KSR’s breaking story on Darius Miller has to be ran by communist. They have stepped on a lot of poeples toes. One mispelled word on there chat board and your banned.
September 7th, 2007 at 4:58 pm
KSR needs its own messageboard.
September 7th, 2007 at 5:26 pm
He has no outside shot. Too skinny to play in the SEC.
September 7th, 2007 at 5:35 pm
89-It’s 35 days til BBM. 5 weeks from today.
September 7th, 2007 at 5:36 pm
Hey everyone. I just talked with Miller’s Coach Chris O’Hearn a couple hours ago. He had a lot of interesting things to say about Darius, his recruitment, his relationship with Chris Lofton, and what we can expect from Darius in the future. Come check it out! I have the entire interview written out at the CatsZone. For a link, just click on my name. We also have hot FSU cheerleaders, a Kent State in-depth preview, and more!

Thanks a bunch Matt, I honestly, no kidding, think your show has truly helped us on the recruiting front, kids can feel the excitement and see the program is modernizing! Folks, the BIG BLUE & WHITE is BACK, look out.
September 7th, 2007 at 8:42 pm
This is very exciting news. I’ve been in a good mood all day, since reading about the Miller commitment here, this morning. It’s a good pick up for UK, one they almost had to have. Not because Miller is so talented, rather, because of the other schools UK was battling for his services.
Scotty Hopson is likely the most talented player in the state, and then maybe Bud Mackey, but Darius isn’t far behind. Congrats to Miller!
September 7th, 2007 at 8:46 pm
Rumor on the street outside 2 Keys is Oscar Combs has had it. He’s waiting for Matt Jones for a teabagging contest Saturday at noon.
Winner gets the scoop from Matt on the next recruit.
September 7th, 2007 at 10:27 pm
Hey Matt… Why is this on 1570’s site? “If you haven’t heard the big news - which would surprise the life out of me, knowing how recruiting news travels in UK circles - Jeff Drummond broke the story today that Darius Miller has committed to UK. Darius ended his recruitment this morning, announcing his intentions to play for the big blue.”
Also, You and Rob haven’t been on at 6pm the past couple of nights on 1570, what’s up man. I need the show for the ride home. Especially when we sign someone like Miller…
Keep up the great work!
Almost forgot, when are you going to interview Monroe on the show. We need you to help keep UK on his radar so Coach G gets one of his in home visits…
September 8th, 2007 at 12:06 am
Lets all face it. The guy that deserves the credit is not Matt nor TCP not anyone else, it’s Etwnappel. I read it on Kentucky Sports Report, then here, then TCP. There was no scoop and who cares? We got Darius Miller. All this ankle biting over someone having it 3 minutes ahead of someone else is silly.
September 8th, 2007 at 1:27 am
Oscar Combs is waiting for Matt Jones right now in front of 2 Keys Tavern on Limestone. He’s had half a fifth he swiped from the Broken Wheel up the street and he’s bared down to his wifebeater.
He keeps repeating, “Matt Jones… putting the working man out of business one blog at a time!”
From what we could get out of him, he’s challenged Matt Jones to a Darius Miller “analysts off” pre-game style winner take all.
Winner gets to answer the next weeks worth of cell phone calls on Matts phone.
September 8th, 2007 at 1:42 am
Yea, Jared Powell is dissing you Matt on 1570, scroll down the main page. He’s giving Drummond the cred.
I guess he doesn’t get to come to the tailgate party.. lol.
September 8th, 2007 at 4:20 am
Who gives a $h!t who did what first! Yes…if you got the scoop
and TCP is reporting it as their scoop, sure I’d be a little PO’d,
but to mention that very fact makes you look like a third grader who
just told on someone!
Get over yourselves…all of you and be thankful for the chance to
even report on something so many only wished they could do!
I come to Kentucky Sport Radio first everyday so I saw it first here.
Your rep and ability to get info is the best Matt…don’t drop to
someone else’s level and act like them!! You know you have a product
that’s the best…act as such!

#94 - I’m ignorant for the most part, but it’s “their” for people, “there” for a place, and “they’re” when “they are” is not used, but would sound right.

31. If you want it your way go on over to that lovely romper room site. Leave this place alone. It’s fine the way it is. This place is loose and relaxed. I can’t stand the uptight people at that other site. The stick up your a$$ attitude is why I demanded that they delete me from that board. It’s loose here and I hope to God that the merge doesn’t impose the romper room style of posting here. Nerve wracking SOBs. Take that crap back over there.

Let me change that to some of the people. As I’ve stated before, there are some great people over there. And then there are the others….

If it had not been for Matt, no one would even go to Maggard’s pathetic site

Maggard forces you to log in to get to the site. No one wants to have to remember another damn password for bball news (I’d guess most guys & gals who consider themselves modern have at least 10+ online accounts through various websites - banks, utilities, work, etc). I understand why he’s doing it, most likely so he can institute a pay plan down the road, but… why would anyone pay for something that they can get elsewhere for free (and often quicker). Cats Pause ONLY exclusive pay benefit is the Rivals player database.
Maggards got his head so far up his ass he’s running off his own potential client base with his sometimes broken login restriction.
