Meet Patrick Patterson

by @ 9:09 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

p1_pat.jpeg

Well you knew it would happen. A blog has posted a copy of Patrick Patterson’s Facebook site…..and well, it is very interesting. We see from the site that he is already bleeding blue and that he has a lot of friends. We also see that he may be the Bill Walton of our era as well. P-Pat is going to be the man at UK so you might as well get to know him now…..

  1. uk4life Says:

    1st

  2. RyanInLondon Says:

lets hope these boys know how to use the drug test “cover ups” or were in deep doo doo.

  3. markky Says:

love this guy, he is going to special

  4. Tim from Ashland Says:

I do know him…living in Ashland i have known of this kid for years now…and Matt your right he will be the Man at UK….He is the real deal!! Great kid..nice family…good morales….

  5. KAWildcat Says:

pretty funny stuff. I’m sure all of the athletes will get a lecture from Mitch now.

  6. anonymous Says:

I think the most pro-UK thing that Matt could do right now is take down that link.

  7. TheGuyPitinoForgotToPutOnTheGuyThrowingTheBallInBounds Says:

He came to KY for the kind bud! Crap, kinda makes me wish I didn’t leave! ;)

I guess he and Crawford will be real close this semester then… oh god!

  8. RyanInLondon Says:

#6. i think that you were being a prick when you said that but i actually have to agree.

  9. sortleader2 Says:

Where was all this technology when we were in school? Any how, the jury is out on Patterson. Nice kid. Nice family. Nice size. Nice skill set. So long as he gets focused, stays focused, he will not go the way of Richard “Master Blaster” Madison, or Eric Manual, Irv Thomas, or a host of other athletic man-children. I’d settle for a Winston Bennettesque or Charles Hurtish type of game with new 2K+ athleticism.

On a side note, I hope the wreckin’ Rho Lamda Bruhz get a hold of him. It has been some time since a Que(Omega) was on the hoops team.

  10. Todd Hester Says:

Bad call Matt, Take it down

  11. Ryan Says:

Oh well, it’s easy to pass a drug test. They have a drink that you can buy at GNC that will make someone pass a THC test everytime. Someone can test negative for weed for several hours after they drink it.

  12. thatguy Says:

for all you take it down people….stop with your blatant homerism and move on in life. it’s real and it’s funny shut up and enjoy it

  13. Wes Horn Says:

Hes already here at UK…why take it down??

  14. Hmm Says:

Basketball cool guy talk. Stupid but harmless and I’m pretty sure he can write/speak in standard English. Now the cannabis thing. That should have UK fans a little nervous I admit.

  15. woohop Says:

Matt I am sure you think it is cool to provide the link to his book. Obviously you don’t care abouth placing him in a “bad light”. He is too young to know how some of the things he says are going to be misunderstood………you are old enough to know better, and to use better judgment and NOT put this sort of thing online. I thought Jerry Tipton was bad………

  16. sortleader2 Says:

You can take the kid out of West Virginia, but you can’t take the West Virginia out of that kid.

  17. RyanInLondon Says:

how often do basketball players have to take drug test?

  18. sortleader2 Says:

GMo, that ain’t for these folks homey.

  19. Larry Redmon Says:

Hey PatPat, I know this motel room in Bowling Green KY, I spent
    many a night there.

  20. RyanInLondon Says:

#20. you think his mommy knows him like that? thats all i was sayin.

  21. sortleader2 Says:

I don’t smoke “pot” InBounder. The fact that you stated that wack post and you call marijuana “pot” really exposes how ‘out of touch’ you are. Stick to watching the Black boys play ball on Saturdays and spare us your social commentary.

  22. Prince vs. Cleveland Says:

I love that link! It’s hilarious.

  23. sortleader2 Says:

Focus on the FREAK. Is the gurtl seeing anyone, I mean seriously? That is where the ’sizle’ is in that site. The rest is merely window dressing.

  24. sortleader2 Says:

    s-i-z-z-l-e

  25. Bo Says:

Interesting combination of groups. Legalizing Marijuana and the Make a Wish Foundation.

  26. bcgobsession Says:

My Make a Wish is that PP can manage to pass his drug tests, especially after living in the blue-”grass” state. Wonder if BCG took him some of the good green from KY to entice his signature on the scholly papers???

  27. anonymous Says:

it’s not a matter of getting him to like uk fans…its a matter of him not getting in trouble or making our program look bad

  28. Stan Gable Says:

#27 - Maybe his wish is that marijuana were legalized.

  29. Dale Says:

The rocket ship spun out inward as the lightpole transgressed into a frontward spiral downspout of equal opportunity employment. Then the dialect of manhood was established thus making our very own plutomic database of cowardly false prophets.

  30. nascar hater Says:

a UK basketball player that likes pot? I’m shocked.
    seriously, can you imagine????
A UK basketball player that would actually go so far as to smoke pot?
    I can’t, no I won’t believe it.
    ; )

  31. Sidekick Says:

What to look forward to on the Kige Ramsey Show this fall

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZB7dklEi-r0

  32. PudWhacker Says:

    I think he’s funny as hell…

  33. lexslamman Says:

Every UK player I’ve known (except Cameron and Mark Pope) have blazed up.

  34. YoMomma Says:

Can we quit stalking kids on MySpace and Facebook?

  35. MC Says:

Pat’s Facebook profile is open to everyone who goes to UK and has a Facebook account, including Faculty. If he were gonna get in trouble for the “Legalize it!” campaign, he would have done so already.

  36. Dick Vitale Says:

What is this? The LHL Jr?

  37. Matt Jones Jr. Says:

Seriously, who doesn’t smoke weed? Quit being lil girls.

  38. Brandon Says:

Just added PPat to the friends list. BTW, just because you’re for something doesn’t mean you actively participate in it. That’s like saying everyone who advocates gay rights is gay.

  39. Lil' Bush Says:

Yeah, I ain’t done all kinds of stuff and I’m a winner!

  40. Clinton's Memoirs Says:

I got high with Bill Keightly after the 1991 Arkansas loss. he took it hardest of all. He put a wig on and impersonated Barbara Bush at a campaigne rally to cover a side bet we had.
We never spoke of it again, but rumor has it Keightly took one for the team in the Presidential Quarters in Omaha that night. A dark weekend indeed for the Big Blue Nation.

  41. Matt Jones Jr. Says:

And guys, please stay out of our players’ lives. Some of you are obsessed. The last thing they need to see on their myspace/facebook is some 36 year old guy with a mullet.

  42. Clinton's Memoirs Says:

You’re wasting you time #40. Ronny Milsap can see you point, lighten up. Liked you better as #9. #43 I’m sure that (R)Idaho Senator agrees with you.

  43. William Lloyd Garrison Says:

43, you’re making a general statement that sounds great, but ultimately makes little sense. It’s evaluated by context. Take gay marriage. Not a good example; that’s something you would only seek if you were actually gay (setting aside Chuck and Larry). By contrast, I’ve yet to meet somebody who was truly an advocate for the legalization of marijuana (which may be a totally valid position, I’m not passing judgment on that) who didn’t use it on a semi-regular basis. You don’t need a certain “orientation” to use marijuana. Granted, the casual observer might say “oh, it would make more sense if they just went ahead and legalized pot,” but chances are also pretty good that the casual observer would not go so far as to add (and apparently recruit) people to the cause of marijuana legalization unless they themselves were a semi-regular user of the product (in which case, they aren’t merely a non-using, casual observer). Everybody I’ve ever known who ardently adhered to this position, and ever actually spent any time debating the issue (on the side of its legalization), was a regular or semi-regular user of pot. So comparing gay marriage/rights with drug use/legalization isn’t every effective. In other words, saying PPat is very likely a pot-user because of his apparent enthusiasm for its legalization is absolutely NOTHING like saying that somebody who supports gay rights is gay. I’m sure there are exceptions to the rule, but since the exceptions are just that, exceptions, chances are greater that PPat smokes the gonja on occasion. I’m not judging him morally for that, but the simple fact is, smoking pot is currently against the law. That’s fine for those of you on here who regularly deliver pizzas or stock shelves at the K-Mart, but for PPat, who is in the spotlight and undoubtedly subject to regular drug tests, it might very well mean being kicked off the time or suspended at a very inopportune time–which is definitely going to rain on everybody’s parade, not just his own. Plus there’s that other small thing about getting kicked out of school. Oh, and the whole jail thing. No big whoop.

  44. Clinton's Memoirs Says:

Keightly is fare game though right, Jones Jr.?

  45. Clinton's Memoirs Says:

I remember a bong and a projection TV keeping me company many an afternoon. Yes, the SEC hung in the balance, Saddam this and that, my hippy(wide load) wife nagging about health care initiatives, and the Hogs v. Wildcats swirled in mind for SEC hardwood supremacy. The world was a different place then. Thanks to the sticky-icky, and Emery Worldwide, I was able to send to highly classified ‘KILL” to a certain 6′6″ swingman that rendered him highly emotional and ineffective in the SEC Tourney. It was a marvelous plan. Curses to that gosh danged Tony Delk. Foiled. I’d have gotten away with it too. If it weren’t for thos medling kids and that chubby chick in the dress. I digress(bong hit). Those were the good ol’ days.

  46. TheGuyPitinoForgotToPutOnTheGuyThrowingTheBallInBounds Says:

sortleader2 - I have black friends and none question my motives with my question “Name a black guy who doesn’t smoke pot.” I checked with several of them on your behalf, and none of them can think of a black guy who doesn’t. They did laugh at your denial. One friend mentioned Barack Obama as a guess, and interestingly enough he’s no longer an option… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama

Your rhetorical “get me back” does more to say who you are than to knock that chip off your shoulder. I do find it intersting that you correct my usage of the word “pot”. Does your expertise shine through any more modern recommendations to use instead?

Maybe you could be known as the one black guy who doesn’t smoke pot. If what your reading is offensive, its not meant to be. If you want to change the stereotype that not only have many people in KY smoked pot, let alone black people, then why not focus your efforts towards talking to people about stopping, instead of showing people the giant chip on your shoulder.

  47. School boy Says:

Lets have a blast. Lets call UL fans some names.

  48. sortleader2 Says:

Took you long enough to hit me back playboy. Your blanket question needed checking. Check. I am not offended. You should be so sensitive, and ignorant fella. If all the bruhs you no blaze, so be it. You truly don’t know enough of us to make generalizations. As a rule o’ thoumb, stay away from generalizing. Generally speaking. One could generalize that all UK fans are(insert wack generalization here). Get you knowledge up. Oh, and what in the World does Obama have to do with anything again?

  49. Clinton's Memoirs Says:

Wow? What are you drinking leader? I agree with you, but are you sure you are not high?

  50. Clinton's Memoirs Says:

That reminds me of a time I was campaigning in Louisville. It was a warm balmy night. I had just pocketed, I mean raised, $625,000. A guy that I will call Richard Pinto, payed me a visit at my Gault House Suite. He had some goons with him. Some 6′10″ fella named ‘Moon’ and a pasty guy around the same size with a flat top and bad teeth. The shook me down and dangled me over the ledge of the balcony. It chaifed my cankles mercilessly it did. Until now I never spoke of ths either for fear of retaliation. Alls I know is that a current Louisville Basketball Coach is a bastard through and through. I’m sorry #52, what was the topic again.

  51. My first reaction Says:

    Why post this?!!!!

  52. Jarweed Says:

Whether he prefers PPat or PPuff, it flat don’t matter to me. He is smart and socially conscious enough to stand for its decriminalization. Great job, Patrick.

  53. fritos Says:

I feel like I should have something of substance to this..I keep drawing a blank.

  54. fritos Says:

    ^* …to add to this…

  55. bigdavepistons22 Says:

he’ll be fine. i’m sure he realizes that failing a drug test will likely cost him millions. wouldn’t u, if u did, stop smoking weed if it were gonna cost u a multi-million dollar contract. can’t wait to see what he brings to the court this year.

  56. Anonymous Says:

Guys, what percentage of college athletes…no college students….no PEOPLE haven’t at least
tried marijuana. I’m not condoning it or anything, but try to put it in perspective. We’ve had
druggie players before, I’m sure, but nobody knew about it because we didn’t have the technology
back then. Again, not supporting it and I wish he wouldn’t either.

  57. chicken mcniglet Says:

people are freakin out too much over smoking mary jane! it’s just pot dude, ridiculous

  58. Bob Marley Says:

Come on mon. PP is right. Weed should be legalized. Free your mind mon.

  59. voiceofreason Says:

Matt please take down any comments that may be seen as racist. The least you can do- if you truly love UK.

  60. voiceofreasonsalterego Says:

You know, Prez. Clinton’s memoirs are vivid and unifying. TheGuyPitinoForgotToPutOnTheGuyThrowingTheBallInBounds is an idiot for starting this racial banter.

  61. Anonymous Says:

48- That was one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read in one of these comments sections.

  62. dc Says:

you old fogies don’t really get the whole facebook think. do you know how many groups, view, parties , etc, etc that people invite you to be in. 95% of the people on facebook just click ok and move on to the next group. some of them are “if this group reaches 100,000 my teacher will buy me a keg”, “i heard the smack of the paddle off of johns ass from the living room” “i lost my number can i have yours”. the list goes on and on. hell i even accepted a invitation to attend a democratic party rally and i’m a strong repulican. i don’t read them or pay attention to them i just accept the invitation and go on. this is just silly. get u sum edumacation on da wayz of the day. most of this stuff is reindeer games and ya’ll need to grow up. i believe weed should be legal too, but i don’t believe in smoking it. i believe prostitution should be legal too. let a man have some political views or join a random group. someone should question the blogger for pretending to be PPat’s friend and posting his facebook on the internet for all to see. this is an invasion of privacy and i would be contacting my lawyer!

  63. Phili5 Says:

it takes a real talent to write full paragraphs in ebonics….im impressed.

  64. Robby Says:

Facebook is meant for college kids. It’s not meant for just ANYONE to view, so yes- this being posted for ALL to see is a bad call. If he wanted all of our older fan base to be in his business, he’d be more into myspace. There’s a reason a 55 year old man can’t get a facebook account.

  65. V-in-K Says:

Pat (Beans) Patterson just gets more impressive to this Kentucky fan the more I hear about him…

  66. spacecowboy Says:

technically….now anyone can get a facebook account. its no longer just for college kids. anyone with any random email address can get a facebook account. everyone needs to relax is just for fun. most everyones facebook reads like that or has groups or causes like that. nobody on facebook actually takes any of that stuff seriously.

  67. HUBER Says:

When Hayes came back to some summer practice, he said PP was the man….

If a current NBAers is saying that, then you’ve got to believe hes going to be special… Heck, he hasn’t even played his first college game.

  68. Bob Loblaw Says:

    I love my name.

  69. California Orange Says:

The more I read about him the better. Stay away from the alcohol PPat. The mary jane is way better for you than the alcohol. Just remember to study, otherwise enjoy the plants god gave us.

  70. Bluto Says:

This site is not real. It is a fake, so I would not get too bent out of shape about it

  71. Doug Hardin Says:

So Patrick’s dating Lauren Holley? She was pretty hot in “Dumb and Dumber.”

  72. Lexie's Dad Says:

    # 48 - Nobel prize winning economist Milton Friedman advocated legalizing marijuana, as did over 500 other economists. http://economics.about.com/od/incometaxestaxcuts/a/legalize_pot.htm

The crux of the argument is that prohibition has already been proven to not work and that if the goal is for people to not use marijuana that “temperance” is a better solution. As an academic pursuit, legalization is very interesting and there are many benefits involved - ranging from increased tax revenues to decreased expenditures on police enforcement (and allowance of reallocation of police officers) to reduced correctional expenses.

It is true that many (I’ll even admit a vast majority) of legalization advocates enjoy weed, but other reasonsed arguments do exist. As a blue glasses wearing UK fan, I’m sure Patterson is a big fan of Milton Friedman.

  73. actually Says:

70–yes it’s real. check your facts before you spout off.

  74. Wednesday Says:

    70. It is real - if you have read his myspace page or any other stuff he has written it falls right in line with PP. Which is fine. None of it is offensive (Unless you teach Elnglish).

At any rate none of that compares to what a few USC players did as a joke awhile back:
    http://deadspin.com/sports/college-football/usc-full-of-white-power-bi lls-242676.php

Plus the person upthread saying that people can’t support causes without actively participating in that culture is sheltered and ignorant. I know lots of libertarians who don’t own guns yet support the second admendmant, like wise they support marijuana legalization. Same with the whole gay marriage thing although I’m not going to really touch that for fear of derailing this thread. Get to know people outside your comfort zone and maybe travel some.

  75. Anonymous Says:

Weed,Alcohol,Scrip Medications from a doctor ALL can be abused AND cause alteration of the brain. Would you place your child on a school bus if you knew the driver had a drug problem ? Right here in Ky a few years back a school bus driver had an accident, the driver was a marijuana user. Thankfully the kids were without injury.

    http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/evidence99/marijuana/Health_1.html

  76. Wednesday Says:

No irony intended with my mis-spelling of English. Where I’m from they really teach Elnglish - it’s a dialect of elvish.

  77. Wednesday Says:

    75. What!? These drugs and alcohol affect my brain! Dammit I wish someone would have told me this soooner….now where’s my car keys.

  78. Anonymous Says:

People need to understand weed is often laced with other dangerous drugs. Here’s the link to the bus driver.

My mistake, kids were hurt in that crash.

  80. sortleader2 Says:

79- What did I miss, besides the spellings of a few words(thanks to the men and women that produce Beefeater Gin)? Where did you attend college again?

  81. Teresa Says:

Is this page not private and for only his friends to view? Will u guys stop at nothing? I wonder who posted this blog? Get a life!

  82. Anonymous Says:

    go to stophernow.com

  83. UKhomer22 Says:

the page is public for anyone on Facebook to view.

  84. UKhomer22 Says:

    sorry, to be clear

#81 - the page is public for anyone on Facebook to view.

  85. heretic Says:

I’m all for legalizing J and I haven’t smoked a joint in years. I can’t. Doing so would cost me my job. I do argue with
lame ass old nags who try to argue that the drug should be illegal. It’s no more harmful than cigs or booze. When I was
a youngster, booze got me wild and I fought quite a bit. A good J calmed me down and I relaxed and picked up the hotties
    in da club.

If marijuana were legal, I’d smoke. Not all the time, but, certainly on occasion.

  86. TheGuyPitinoForgotToPutOnTheGuyThrowingTheBallInBounds Says:

Wow, I get censored because some people can’t read. Nice one Matt J!

  87. TheGuyPitinoForgotToPutOnTheGuyThrowingTheBallInBounds Says:

voiceofreasonsalterego is the type of innocent bystander that deserves to be subjected to second hand smoke.

How about this one, name a Louisville or Tennessee Basketball player who doesn’t smoke pot?

The funniest part of this is the guys who think their comments to Matt J are going to protect Pat… take it down now Matt! (lol). Like Pat gives a damn about this not getting out, He posted “Legalize It” on his facebook page (If that is his page). Thats the modern version of a personal billboard folks.

Better he gets a talk now (from BG or Barnhart) than busted later. Tip of the cap to Matt J (even if he is responsible for the unnecessary censorship here).

Maybe Billy G will actually straighten the kids out for the time being instead of turning the other cheek like Tubby did (which he did).

A portion of our failures the past 10 seasons could be attributed to too much dubage after hours.

  88. heretic Says:

    haha

    that’s what I hear

Tubby the man with the stare….maybe that glazed look wasn’t a stare…perhaps the Tub took a hit
every now and then as well….that would explain his lackadaisical attitude and his laziness during
recruiting season….he was out tokin’ it up….hahaha

  89. apias.net Says:

if you’ve got an opinion the subject and most of you seem to. voice it. monday night at 9 go to apias.net and call in to the radio show and voice your opinion on the air. let us know what you think

  90. Wyvern Goes >> DEEP ON YA Says:

^^^^ that’s teh funniest FEAKIN THIGN I”VE READ IN AT LEAST 4 years.

    HOLY SPIT

  91. BG in KY Says:

When the last toke has been blown into oblivion, he is still a great kid with a good head on his shoulders. When I was his age, everyone I knew including myself, was a midnight toker. I don’t see him doing anything to put himself in any kind of negative ssituation. He and his family would never allow that I’m sure. Besides, your only young once, right?

  92. Clinton's Memoirs Says:

90-I got a million of ‘em. Time to dart into another blog, some don’t get KSR, so consider it motivation(see me @ 80 too ‘wink’).

  93. Grow Box Hydroponics Guru Says:

I was surfing the internet Monday afternoon during my break, and found your blog by searching MSN for cannabis weed. This is a topic I have great interest in, and follow it closely. I liked your insight on Meet Patrick Patterson very much, and it made for good reading. Keep up the good work…
