It is a dreary day here in the Ville, only made drearier by the fact that I am studying for the bar. Two things however have made me smile and showed that no matter what, leopards cannot change their spots. First, as if by clockwork, Phil Mickelson choked away another tournament today. I watched the Scottish Open and our man came to 18 with a one shot lead, took driver off the tee, made bogey and lost in a playoff. Awww Phil.
And second, our man Jerry Tipton today reported that Al Farouq Aminu is down to three schools, one of which is not Kentucky because “they were losing” last year (never mind of course that two of his “finalists” were Wake and Tech….not exactly world beaters). Of course no one bothered to tell Tipton it seems that Aminu committed to Wake this past week. Hey, at least we got a quote from Richard Cheeks!!!!
Back to work….

July 15th, 2007 at 4:38 pm
Tippy just reported that patterson is down to ky, fla, and duke
and will probably choose fla because they won last year,
that asswipe, aminu did commit thursday!!
July 15th, 2007 at 4:44 pm
Aminu committed to Wake, because kentucky was losing last lear!
Wow, did wake even make it to the NIT? He picked a real winner!!
July 15th, 2007 at 5:06 pm
Just think- at least you’re not taking the Cal Bar. Studying for this makes me want to end it all in a blaze of glory, Bon Jovi style.
July 15th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
Nice pic, hahaha. Phil would not fare well in the Tour de France either. Lycra just don’t move like him. I bet you all caught the great win today by Michael Rasmussen - “chicken legs” sure can fly on mountains. Rasmussen is like a mix between the scarecrow from Oz and Kent Tekulve…..He makes Perry Stevenson look like Ned Beatty - from?……Louisville. Vive le Tour.

For Mickelsons fans, today was a perfect example of what frustrates them. Any other player would have taken a 3-wood, or whatever they were confident they could put the ball in the fairway at the 18th off the tee. Then on his chip shot he tried to be a hero and fly it all the way to the top tier where the hole was located rather than playing a lower bump and run within 5 feet and count on his putter. He just goes brain dead sometimes. Until he can put the ball in the fairway when the heat is on, he is going to continue to battle these type of gagations.
July 15th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
Phil=Choker. That photo is appropriate, as Phil looks like he is ready to choke his chicken! (bad joke, I know)
July 15th, 2007 at 5:25 pm
i think that Cheeks needs to continue to push this MM at Commonwealth.
July 15th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
Actually I think he just passed serious gas. Check out the guy in the background. He’s getting ready to keel over.
July 15th, 2007 at 5:34 pm
Tipton has issues thats for sure…
July 15th, 2007 at 5:36 pm
11, that sounds about right, as they are both gasping!
July 15th, 2007 at 5:43 pm
If you like, can you get more info on Zeller?
July 15th, 2007 at 5:46 pm
Considering where the guy in the background is placed, the way Phil is standing & the looks on both their faces….that pic is disturbing.
Is Jerry Tipton retarded by any chance?
July 15th, 2007 at 5:48 pm
Any chance that UK gets the Morris twins or is Kelvin Sampson going to get them? I think they are Indiana bound, that is what I am hearing anyway, if they change it will be to play for KS to learn to play better defense…………
July 15th, 2007 at 5:55 pm
The fans may like Mickelson.
but if the knew him personally
they would feel the opposite.
He is the most disliked player
on the tour by fellow competitors

Maybe someone shoould tell him.
July 15th, 2007 at 6:07 pm
“A little Too Late”
That is how Tipton has the Aminu section titled.
Funny Stuff!
July 15th, 2007 at 6:09 pm
Another reason why I can’t figure out why anyone would read that hack. I haven’t read him in a long time, and don’t plan on it anytime soon…..
July 15th, 2007 at 6:11 pm
17- The most disliked player on tour is Rory Sabbatini by a wide margin. They were discussing it recently on one of the TV broadcast. This was based on a poll of PGA tour players.
July 15th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
15, LMFAO, that is hilarious; wish I had thought of that!
July 15th, 2007 at 6:24 pm
Morris twins re-opened their recruitment, notified Memphis staff and are OPEN again……….
Any thoughts on where this might end, Im hearing KS is ALL over them right now………….
July 15th, 2007 at 7:08 pm
I’d like to know Jerry Tipton’s background–anybody know anything about this guy? I’ve been saying all along that if that dumbass can get a steady column writing about sports in a mid major publication, whats stopping any of us? I mean is it just THAT EASY to land a job like that? He sucks. I just don’t understand.
July 15th, 2007 at 7:57 pm
Is MM site down??
July 15th, 2007 at 8:02 pm
there was a Jerry Tipton in Evansville, Indiana when I was growing up in the 50′ and 60’s. If it is the same guy, he tried to cover high school sports. Wasn’t very successful at so maybe the Indiana owned HL hired him. Many times the HL has been able to find the negative side of UK sports as opposed to finding the positive. One of the main reasons I enjoyed Ricky P was the fact that he could handle the HL people.
July 15th, 2007 at 8:20 pm
As I understand it Tipton falls down alot.
July 15th, 2007 at 8:25 pm
Stoneycat: had no problems getting on to MM’s site– I assume you’re aware he’s changed it, but if not: http://www.kentuckyink.com
July 15th, 2007 at 8:28 pm
Tipton-he’s such a moron. Think he’d check out the scout/rival listings to make sure his article is up-to-date. They committed like 4 days ago– plenty of time to make changes before it goes to print. I was going to point it out to him online, but there is no comment section. Hmmm, Wonder why not?
Classic picture BTW. Seems that Phil is really enjoying someone else being the driver…. LMFAO!!!
July 15th, 2007 at 8:36 pm
Yeah that picture could be in any “Caption this picture” contest for sure. LOL! BTW if anybody didn’t know, the Espy’s are on right now.
July 15th, 2007 at 8:55 pm
[...] You really gotta feel bad for the guy. [via KSR] [...]
July 15th, 2007 at 9:05 pm
Nobody likes Tipton or what he writes. You would think the HL would learn from this and find someone new.
July 15th, 2007 at 9:41 pm
Have you seen the numbers? The Kentucky bar exam is not exactly what they call “difficult.” I’ve passed three of them, including the New York exam, and you have nothing to worry about, so long as you actually put in the time and go through the motions. The bar exam is all about discipline. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Those who don’t pass either can’t manage their time during the two-day test, or they think they’re too cool to study while their friends are holed up for a solid month or two focusing on what needs to get done.

PICTURE IS F-ING FUNNY!

July 15th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
Phil’s bra got in the way. Good lord Phil. Could you please work out and get rid of
those man boobs or at least wear a wife-beater so we don’t have to see them flop???????
July 15th, 2007 at 11:10 pm
Dateline … Loch Lomond, Scotland … Phil Mickelson renews his endorsement deal with the marketer
of back up beepers. Mickelson’s is the first such deal for a golf bag, and while such units are common
on garbage trucks and other commercial vehicles, the Tour has expressed relief at the deal’s culmination
as it protects the livelihoods of golfers farther down leaderboard. The beep will alert them
to Phil’s regression and limit the Tour’s liability to accidents and potential claims to its Workman’s
Comp and Health Insurance.
July 15th, 2007 at 11:41 pm
Wow, it is true a picture is worth a million words.
July 16th, 2007 at 12:04 am
Phil…you can do it, just put your back into it!
July 16th, 2007 at 12:06 am
Before this picture Phil was a tight end….After, he was a wide receiver!
