This kid, Singleton, would MAKE our class! He is an absolute STUD and I would love to steal him away from Pearl and the Pearlites. Put him with Miller and Warren, along with this years class (hopefully with Hamga) and that is one heck of a start to the CBC era!

Recruiting budget has absolutely no affect on tuition. The Athletic Department is totally self funded and ironically the tuition would probably be higher without it since they contribute a large amount to the university.

Are there any big time AAU tourney in Lexington– if not, CBC should organize one played at Rupp–would be a great recruiting tool (although it doesnt look like he needs much help). Rupp would probably be filled with UK fans– just imagine.

42) Singelton and Miller are both part of 08 class who haven’t signed. How is miller taking longer? If we don’t atleast make every effort to get Miller, and He goes to UT or Florida, It’s gonna be just as bad for CBG as Lofton was for OTS. Missing on Hopson is ok because he has major attitude issues. Miller, on the other hand is a great ball player with a great attitude. Gotta keep this kid in state.

Chris is nothing like Perry Stevenson. He’s much stronger, but his game is perimeter oriented as a “face the basket” player. He can post up smaller guys or even guys his size. He’s strong for his weight. He’s a better rebounder than most 3’s. He isn’t as long as Prince or as athletic of a leaper, but he’s no slouch as an athlete at all. He doesn’t block shots as well at Tay, but probably shoots it as well (better if you are comparing Tay as a Jr in HS to Chris). The kid is silk.
Oh, and UK is working on having a tournament there in the near future.

#39–I can’t even go that far. Phobia by definition is a fear or to fear. I know of no “hate” definition tied to that word. I do not fear homos/gays/queers/whatever you wish to call them. I just don’t agree with thier point of view. This does not make me a hater or someone who fears. The gay community has used homophobia as a way to make those of us who disagree with that lifestyle seem evil or somehow less of a human being because we don’t embrace what they do. It kind of marginalizes me and I don’t like that. My opinion is not based on fear or hatred, much as they would like others to believe. I fear them because I don’t understand or want to sympathize with them…..Wrong. Like I said. No fear. No hatred. Just not my cup of tea.

every effort to recruit Miller….Lofton on the other hand was considered too slow with the
inablilty to create his own short (everyone was wrong)…OTS was not the only one who missed on Lofton, just ask
Rick Pitino and Bob Huggins…..by the way, it isnt like we gave the scholarships to chump
change instead of Lofton (we had 3 mcDonald AA’s and ramel bradley in that class……

Errors certainly do happen. This really didn’t become an issue untill you wanted it to be one, and if you want it to stop being an issue, i’m going to make more errors in the next sentance than you can handle. Don’t correct any of them and it’s a dead issue.

Miller is a must get - I Agree due to the fact if UK loses another great player from KY then we look foolish. HOWEVER I Trust BCG and his work ethic in recruiting . So whatever works out I Still believe UK will be in good shape.

The only thing that Coach BCG can do is offer a spot and show them how much we need them.
In the end it’s up to the kid! Miller or any other. I do not think we should do what we have
in the past, put all our eggs in one basket and then hope and pray! and maybe in some cases beg.
It is now obvious that OTS recuriting skills were lacking. He has stated that the Gophers will
wait till next year to use there scolarships.

60. Most of the tournaments I go to are at colleges. The King of the South was at lipscomb this weekend. Rupp is too busy for a tournament…they’d prob use the rec center at UK if it has 6 courts or so. they want the kids ON campus.

Being from Maysville, I can tell you that Miller is ours to lose. A player from mason county, will no doubt choose UK over any other school, given the oppurtunity, trust me. Chris Lofton would have loved to play for UK, Tubby just didn’t give him a chance.

Marc , for you to say he’s got a better shot than Tay is just amazing to me! Tay put on one of the greatest shooting clinics I’ve ever seen against UNC , Tays shot was flat in his palm without a pretty rotation yet it was deadly! I’d love to see this young man shoot like that in UK Blue.

The recruiting effort of Billy Clyde has certainly been worthy of the excitement and the signing of Legion has been a superb coup, BUT…. Wildcat Guys and Gals, he’s only signed ONE Player as of this moment! The tremendous parade of acculades of BG recruits (t.i.c. I mean SIGNEES!) is not worthy of the Praise that’s going around that are intented on crushing Old Tubby. These Props are just a tinny-bit premature. I don’t understand why everyone is trying to be the first to “make” the recuit/SIGNEE thing happen before it actually does. Did I miss something? Has someone offered a million dollars to the first fan to project the correct recruit and when it happens? Is there a Pick the SIGNEE Lotto announced that I missed? I am as excited about what BG brings to the table as anybody, but I’m going to wait until BG has earned his Degree in SIGNEES (MASTER OF SIGNEES) before I congratulate him, or “We the Big Blue Nation” and then begin to make comparisons of his results to Tubby’s

Chris Singleton has a better three point shot than Tayshaun Prince had when Tayshaun was a 17 year old kid in HS as a JR….same age comparison. Tay’s shot significantly improved over time at UK as he learned how to get it off easily and when to take it/confidence and simply being 4 years older and wiser.
NOW…can everyone stop thinking I am saying a 17 year old kid (singleton) has a better jumper than a 21 year old Tayshuan Prince.

94- agreed. I think Tubby was an above average recruiter, but it seemed as if he liked to “hide” his information. Tubby was very conservative in his recruiting strategies as opposed to CBC. Case in point–look at the 2003 recruit class (wasn’t it 1 or 2 in the country?) But do you ever remember being so excited about hte recruiting process? I know I am like a schoolkid again.

Jon, I know you think we should get Miller, but IMO, Miller is really not leaning any which way as of now. No one knows what the hell the kid is going to do. If either one is willing to commit then we should just take the first one who is willing… I’m not going to tell
singleton that he can’t come because we are waiting to see what miller does.. because GOd forbid we don’t get miller. And you act like you are letting Gillispie off the hook for not getting Hopson… attitude problem or not, BCG’s name shoudnt even be mentioned in the same

Saying that hopsons additude problem is going to lead to him being a bust, and therefore, missing on Hopson is gonna come back to bight us on the tail like lofton has. As you can see from the Lofton Backlash, it doesn’t matter how good the players you bring in are, if the Hometown Hero goes somewhere else and performs, there’s gonna be a lot of crap said about why we let him go. Not putting down Singelton down, as rarely as top notch talent comes out of the state, we need to land Miller. 115) If they don’t sign LOI’s by the deadline, then they cannot sign one. They would be abble to go anywhere, but they would have to sign a scholarship instead of an LOI (which is what Legion did) At this point, it would be best not to sign an LOI, for Patterson anyway. If he plans on waiting untill the 16th regardless, he’d be better off just commiting. Alot of the penalties associated with transferring come from signing the LOI.

Jon, well I personally don’t really care which one we get… if we get one, then more power to BCG no matter which of the two it ends up being. Only illogical people don’t step back and look at who we got as opposed to who we missed. We didn’t get lofton because everyone in their brother said that Crawford was the better get… we already had Bradley and there was no point getting lofton, Crawford, and Bradley. If we get Singlton, and we only have 2 schollies, then it wouldn’t make much since to get both… you take who you can get, when you can get him.

Just to be fair, let’s not go crazy with all of the “Billy G. is
so much better than Tubby” stuff just yet. Yes, there is more
excitement regarding recruiting, however, Billy G. has yet to coach a game
at UK. And for the record, Smith won a hell of a lot of games
at UK - including a national championship, five SEC Conference titles
and five SEC Tournamment Championships. Oh Yeah - he won at a
76 percent clip playing one of the toughest schedules in the country
every year. I’m just sayin’

i like tubby, but he never “sold” the program, which excited fans and works for recruiting. BCG is already doing that for sure. Tubby did win a lot of reg season games, but made the final four once in ten years.
Over those 10 years, Mich St. lost many more reg season games, but went to four final fours and won one, Florida also lost more games, but went to 3 final fours and won 2.
I could easily stand to lose 10 games a year if we went to the final four more.
If BCG keeps recruiting like this, I would have to think we would at least tie Tubby’s one-in-the next ten years. If he can coach at all, we should do even more.
And if his friend’s Bill Self’s coaching ability has rubbed off on him, we’re in trouble because Self is a horrible coach..
We’ll see, but at least so far it’s been fun to be a UK fan again….

#176, very true, Tubby was a great coach and person, but the program needed change (not a Tubby hater or apologist; played “for him” an genuinely like the guy). Everyone is just excited because recuiting is being approached the way it has to be done for top programs to stay on top (remember the buzz word for the new ear is: “recruiting over”). I say let everyone be excited because they haven’t been able to for some time.
