Taking a break from the Thunder festivities to report that there is nothing to report….no news on a Legion commitment at this time. Still havent gotten confirmation on a second recruit. The big news of today is that Jody Demling is reporting that Brandon Jennings, a 2008 point guard who in my view is one of the most dynamic point guards of the last five years, is now listing UK after decommitting from USC. Interesting to follow.
Will post more if anything happens today….in the mean time, do me a favor and lay off those whose are trying to contribute here. This blog, for you newcomers, is not just sports only…..we have lots of other stuff on here as well and the guys that are doing it are doing it free and trying to entertain. If you dont like it, stop coming…..but stop with the incessant bitching at posts that arent recruiting related. When there is news, we report it….but when there is not news, we have fun….if you cant or dont want to, then go to another site.

I really don’t care what material is up here - I like most of the people who post here.
When I want to discuss recruiting, I find the most recent recruiting post and drop a comment there.
When I want general discussion, I go to threads like the ‘Thunder over Louisville’ thread.
I like that this blog has a little of everything. It gives it personality.

I dont care for the non-sports posts, but if all you want to see is sports post, sign up for KSR or TCP. This site is awesome, and like Matt said, if there isn’t anything happening on the sports fromt, what else is their to write about. There is seriously alot of bitching on this site considering it’s free to read.
It’s free and the information is usually better than the pay sites associated with Rivals and Scout. Keep up the good work guys.

Being a UK grad with a degree in journalism, and having won press association awards in two states and an AP citation, I’d like to offer my services as a contributor. My blog would be why we all hate Chandrathan and wish he/she would go to the UL blog site and leave us alone…..Seriously, I’d like to contribute one from the eastern KY point of view, like what we are doing down this way…..Today, for all of you informed folks, is Hillbilly Days in Pikeville. Addressing the post, I’d like to throw out there that Matt works his ass off to make this site the best he can. He’s always busting his tail for new information, and I can tell you that you get it the second he does. Nothingat all is held back. Same goes for the Intern and Rob.
The Turkey Hunter, Mosley and myself are here to keep things light and fun too. This is all so that we can guarantee a steady flow of interesting things on this site for folks to read. You know the gang by now, you should be able to pick and skip over the posters you don’t like, and read the ones you do. It’s not that hard. I was told earlier today to “die, die and go to hell.” That’s a tad harsh, especially when all I’m doing is taking a little time out of my weekend to make sure stuff is up for the fans of the site.
Let’s face it, there’s only so much we can say in the off-season about teenage boys we know little to nothing about. But this site was founded in the interest of making it fun and unique, and that’s remained the focus since day one. Would be a great get, but “one of the most dynamic point guards of the last 5 years” is overblown. He isn’t on the same plane as Derrick Rose, OJ Mayo, Rose, Livingston, or Chris Paul, and not significantly better than Lawson, Rondo, Collins, or Calathes.

Just wanted to say that I am mad at my son for telling me about this site. It is addictive! He would call home from UK to tell us what was going on with the coaching search. When I asked him how he knew all this stuff, he told me about this site. I never cared about recruiting before this month. To me, UK basketball was from Midnight Madness to the NCAA tournament. After the tournament, that was it til October. Now, that I have realized the importance of recruiting, I check this waayyy too many times a day!
Love all the stuff sports and non-sports alike. I even listen to the radio show on my way home from work!

My god…one of the ESPN announcers at the Jordan game just said that if McRoberts had stayed, with the incoming class Duke would’ve been top 5. With McRoberts gone, they’ll still be “solid.”
This is the same Duke team that played like crap much of last year, was overseeded, and lost to VCU in the first rd of the tourney.
How can these ESPN announcers possibly see themselves as intelligent when they pretend Duke is always great?

Second half about to start in the Jordan game. Lucas is #6 on the black team and Patterson is #16 on the white team. However, the announcers have the kid going to Duke (Singler) over a table with their noses up his crack. He is the second coming, along with some kid going to Oklahoma. Lucas/Patterson look just average tonight.

i really wish patterson could see the ‘BIG PICTURE here…lets think about this…
u come to ky and u are basically handed over the keys to the car….u are the man, the stud,
the go to guy…you will play basically 10 cbs/espn games this year…u will be showcased because
we have no one else underneath that even compares…u will be worshipped, u will play in front
of 24,000 GUARANTEED EVERY HOME GAME (no matter if its ole miss or north carolina on the schedule).
u will be a definitive lottery pick in the nba draft 2008…
on the other hand, u got to florida, where they have just reached their peak…u play in the shadwos
of noah and horford, who everyone expects u to be even better than….u play to sold out crowds
like 2 times at year (13,000 fans mind u)….and u share the spotlight with 2 other 5 star
recruits……

Not to mention, there’s going to be a coaching change sooner than later. We all know Eddie Munster is going to be coaching the Knicks or some other NBA team before too long.
I think that’s one of the reasons that Donovan decided to stay put. He knows he’ll test the NBA waters soon & would have had to say “See ya” to UK. That would not make him too popular here. This way, he can leave for the NBA, Gators won’t hate him & UK will love it when he leaves. Once he fails in the NBA, he’ll be open for negotiations with UK. BUT, will we want him then? He’ll still be able to get virtually any college coaching job in the country. Its win/win for him & he’s still liked by Florida.
Personally, I hope/pray that Billy G is extremely successful at UK & wants to stay put for a long time to come. Think Coach K long time. I want him to retire from UK! Its time for a coach to stick around & the fans to want him to stick around.
Patterson is a numb-nuts if he (as well as the other recruits) can’t see the glory found in wearing a UK jersey. Kentucky b-ball is the ticket to life.

they are getting the royal treatment here. Hell, I’ve only been in the Keeneland clubhouse once & I grew up in KY! That’s the life they get from the time they put on the blue/white. They have no freaking clue what kind of life ballers have in KY. Ritchie Farmer– Commissioner– that says it all. One of the top jobs in the state just b/c you played ball for UK. Hell, in another year or 2, they’ll be begging Billy G to race for Govenor.

Went to Jordan Sports Classic tonight decked out in my blue to make an impression on Jai and Pat. Took a sign that said, “Pat and Jai, come to UK!”…
Lucas looked good. Anyway, went down to the court after the game. Patterson’s parents saw my sign and waved at me, then took a picture of me and the sign.
Patterson walked by and refused to look up at me or the sign. Lucas, however, definitely saw it. I called his name and he didn’t look up at first. He had no expression on his face. Then he looked up and saw it and got a huge beaming smile. He pointed at me, put his index finger to the sky making the #1 and jumped up in the air. It really got him jacked up. Definitely seemed a lot more enthused about the Big Blue than Pat. But at least Pat’s parents can show him the pic.
From his reaction, I would have to think that Jai wants to rep the BIG BLUE….
No sign of Coach Clyde or Syp, but saw MJ, Spike Lee, Eddie George, Villanueva, Igudola, and Chris Paul.
Let’s hope we get these guys…

I’d dig those blue eyes of his…. I live in Texas, so I took an hour drive to see where Coach G grew up– Graford. Its soooo itty bitty. I passed up “Main St” twice. The school looks brand new. I couldn’t get over the size of that place. There’s a caution light, that’s it.

Seth, I saw you there, man. I was sitting midcourt in section 106. Good effort (”Pat and Jai Come to UK”)! I agree that Patterson seems less than enthused. I think he’s Florida bound. He and Calathes had some strong chemistry on the court, sharing the ball a lot. At this point, I hope he get Lucas, Legion and Sanchez. I’m over Patterson, and UK fans should be as well. He is a rebounder, and a guy who will box out, but he will only score follow-ups. NOT a program builder.

I’ve been saying this for weeks, but here it goes again… I think Jai has long wanted to be a wildcat, but for some unknown friggen reason, he’s letting Patterson influence his own recrutment WAY too much! He wants to play with Patterson, so much so, that he’s contemplating not going where his heart is set on (UK) and going instead to where Patterson wants to go and where they can both play together… at Florida. It seeems now he’s almost looking for reasons to like florida… almost trying to convince himself he could be happy there. They lost Green, but they have Hodges… a PG, and Clathes, a PG/SG… if Jai thinks he’d start over either of those two next year then he’s being mislead by BD… intentionally if you ask me, just to get PPAT locked up. Jai loves UK, and I hope he looks into his heart and remembers that that’s where he wants to be, even in BD and Patterson wnat to drag him to Florida with them.

It seems at this point he’s only trying to convince Jai to go to Florida… I’m loyal to guys that love UK, and UK players… Stevenson is a UK player, not a prospect and I am much more loyal to him then to patterson at this point… I don’t care if Patterson goes to Florida anymore.. I want to see Stevenson slam on him next eyar.. but I still like jai and respect him for being so passionate about UK, so lets get Sanchez, Legion, and Jai and call it a recruiting class…. As for Patterson, I think he’s just trying to hide his emotions about all the schools. If he starts acting interested in one school, the others may back off or he’ll unintentionally announce his decision. Realistically, we know at least one of these recruits will end up at Florida. Everyone wants Billy D– he’s the hottest coach in the states now. But, I don’t think it will last long– he’ll go to the NBA & Coach G will take over Basketball Land!!! These high school kids have extremely large egos, huh?

Even though he was not overly impressed, I’d take him over Pettigrew. Imagine the press and the the other recruits in future years…Playing with MJs kid, I might get to meet him. …..at this point, florida is making a strong push in my mind to overtake duke as my most

I totally respect Coach K & I used to respect Billy D. But his coaching shenanigans this year showed some true color. Sure, I’ll give him some credit for being loyal to his school (theres something to be said for that– Puck Fitino) but his teams seem like total thugs as of late. Did y’all read in Patterson’s Slam Diary that he overslept & missed the meeting on Thursday or Friday? His (Dukie) room-mate didn’t bother to wake him up. That’s not very team-like. If you haven’t read his daily blog, its kinda funny & he says he appreciates all the fan comments. 99% of them are from UK fans. Maybe he’ll pay attention to who really wants him.

221) I hear that all the time but you dont hear him in the media that often, making statements etc. He has been for the most part very quiet. But his recruitment has gotten to the point of annoying and even though we need Patterson more then we need Lucas. It will feel like a slap in the face if Lucas ends up at Florida, where if Patterson ends up at Florida I am just going to be like “I cant wait to beat you…get ready for Billy G and company to put you in your place and regret that decision.”
